Thank you so much. Did anyone notice that Jones says David Ruffin died in the back of a limousine?

Goddd D**** aint Nobody gettin' my MotherF-in' tapes . That was too funny. "... In a move that ranks high among the many Motown mysteries, the album is never released. The performances, many of them new compositions, are never heard again, not even as filler for future albums. David Ruffin’s next solo album is released in 1973, meaning he had four years between official LP releases. But the tapes survived. The stories remain fresh. The sound of David Ruffin at the height of his powers can now be heard, 33 years later. ..." (From HipoSelect annotation to David's new album) I believe David had sound reasons to react to a request of that nature the way he did. (I know I am always on his side ... but it seems he knew he couldn't trust these people.)

What really made me mad was the fact that the DJ portrayed David as kind of a f-word using maniac. He seemed to enjoy it tremendosly ... Aw. Ain't nobody going to hurt my DAVID RUFFIN without getting a slap from me.

Ain't nobody going to hurt my DAVID RUFFIN without getting a slap from me. take a reality pill, AnnaK...people who knew and spent time with Ruffin have said the m-f word flew out of his mouth frequently. This does not make him a bad person. Its just part of who he REALLY was (as opposed to who you seem to want him to be.)

I've heard that too, Kalisa. My point was, however, that someone like Mr. Jones tells a story like this, completely detached from anything that may have explained such an outburst. I can imagine, that Mr. Jones really didn't know too much about David Ruffin. Knowing, however, that David Ruffin had some truly f&*#)@ up experiences concerning his carreer, one may have had quite a different impression of David Ruffin ranting and raving about the request to give his tapes to some limousine driver. I am sure the person/s who knew David Ruffin in person cannot tell - in this case - what was on his mind when he kept ranting about not letting go of his tapes. Neither can I ... I am just seeing David's reaction in a different light than Mr. Jones presented it. I hope that's not oversgtepping any boundaries

I hope that's not oversgtepping any boundaries Anna, the man was streatching it a little bit.I'm just glad he changed the subject of Sam Champion. I thought this was a joke. Then,I thought the interviewer was gonna ask Sam to marry him. I don't think that you overstepped any bounderies. And,if you did, then who's? I can see David reacting like that especially if he thought that someone was trying to pull a fast one on him. At least he was in a state of mind to think about being exploited. But,that's the least interesting part of the interview,in my opinion. Dennis told a story and didn't exploit anyone...and NEVER used the "O" word. Not once . A touch of class. He told how it was to record in those days...about performing and how he was accepted within the group without saying the "O" word.Never told anyone's business. Damn shame most people on the board chooses to ignore this interview. They may learn something.

Yes, Mike, Dennis did it again ... he proved that stories can be told and interviews can be given in a professional yet personal style ... that's class in my eyes, too. I am sorry I jumped on that "David subject" again. I t just drives me nuts to hear people talk like that ...
