We're going to spend Christmas at home. On Christmas eve we will probably have fondue -- I don't know yet. Then we actually spend some time together in our livingroom, listening to our favorite classical music. If it's cold enough, we'll have a fire in the fireplace and have some Gluehwein. Christmas day, we usually go for a long walk and get into a discussion over what is the proper attire for the day. I say you can't wear jeans for Christmas; he says anything goes. :laughing In the end ... nobody cares. The important thing on Christmas: peace, togetherness, and both good food and wine :cheer (and a Christmas tree, and snow -- if possible --- and calls from home, and good music, and late breakfasts with a companion, and no calls from work , and the same old stories from back then when we were kids ...) That's Christmas in our house.

In Germany, we sometimes spent Christmas in one of the many historic hotels in the Black Forest. That was the most romantic setting imaginable. After dinner, a chamber orchestra played baroque music ... When we finally went to bed, we found a big plate of sweets and fruits on the night stand and the bedspread was thrown back halfway so that we could just get under the covers. Most of the time, though, we spent Christmas eve with my family. That was always a noisy affair because of all the kids my sisters contributed to the clan. The first and second day of Christmas, we visited friends or they visited us. All in all, we were rather busy in contrast to nowadays.

Looking forward to spending Christmas in North Carolina with family and getting together with some old friends of mine and do some caroling while I'm there. It has been a tradition for the past 15 years.
