I am new to this site, so bear with me here. I have been listening to The Tempts since the 60's. I am going to admit though that I am quite pissed about the fellas. Why G.C. Cameron? I do not think that he has The Tempts type voice. I could deal with B. Henderson, he could blow when he wanted to. But he was not quite there either. When I listened to him, I envisioned Ollie taking the lead. At certain times I could hear an Ollie like tone. I tried to pull up some of G.C. Cameron's leads and I am not there with the voice. Maybe it's just me. Maybe when the voices jell, it will get there. Otis, why did you not go after Ollie ?? :oBurned Bridges

Well, the story goes that O DID go after Ali and Ali turned him down. Who knows? But I know what you mean. When I hear GC's voice I think of Louis Price. I doubt that's the effect that the Tempts are going for. .......... oh yeah, welcome!

Hey Tempts fam, I'm new so here it goes...
The Charlie is a 25yr old, soon to be Univ. of Tennessee graduate. I was born and raised in Knoxville, TN. I have an A.A.S. in Video Production Technology, and I am about to receive a B.S. in Marketing. I am currently a Sales Associate with S&K Menswear, but looking for full-time work.
I found Tempts Info through a Temptations search on Google.
I like the Tempts, because I think they are the best at elegantly commanding a stage performance while collectively putting together a smooth five-part harmony. I have always been a fan of Motown because of the multi-part acts and the rhythm section (coming from someone who plays saxophone.)
I have always been a fan of Temptations music. It wasn't until a friend introduced me to the Mini-Series that I became very interested in the background of the group and the individuals. Ever since May 2001 (my first, and only, Tempts concert) I have not been able to listen to any other music. I have not experience all of the leads, so I do not know alot about some of the members. The only albums I have are: Anthology Series, The Very Best of The Temptations; Ear-Resistible; and Awesome. In other words, I have only been exposed to the C-5, Dennis, very little Richard/Damon, and the current lineup (sans GC Cameron).
I hope that tells you a little bit about your new little bro.
Temptations, forever.

Welcome to the board TheCharlie! I know you will like it here because we all the love the Tempts too. May I suggest "Phoenix Rising" as your next purchase. Do you know if you will be able to attend a concert this summer that includes The Four Tops? You would be impressed with Theo.

Thanks Jonel. I was considering either "Phoenix Rising" or "For Lovers Only". There is a good chance that I will head to Atlanta on July 20th for a show. I'm looking forward to going, if my friend does indeed pick up the tix.

Hi,yeah new to these boards and made up to find a Temps board,or actually you found me. From Liverpool,England, wife and 5 kids(I blame the romantic music of Tamla Motown!). 1st heard the Temps music back in'64 and their music, especially by the 60s line up,still gets to me. Now Eddie Kendricks, now what a great singer he was, never forget the 1st time I heard "Youre my Everythimg".Sensational voice. Love a diverse cross section of music, but the Temps have that special place in my heart.

Hello, new members. It seems like there are quite a few. Why don't you tell us somthing about yourselves. We all want to know. I guess better late than never. Born in Wash,DC. Lived in Upper Marlboro, MD for four years, Capitol Hts for 15, and now I reside in Bowie (contrary to popular belief, it is NOT the boonies!!) Surfing the net at 4am I'm a sucker for tight harmonies. For instance, on I Can't Get Next to You, towards the end, that 'hey' they do. That is a nice and smooth harmony. I'm also a sucker for class and taste. I don't really get a thrill out of a group of singers groping their scantily clad female dancers, or parading around w/their pants at their knees or shirts open bearing their less than there muscles. Seems like they are trying to cover up their sorry songs. The Tempts were on another level. I downloaded this video clip of NSync (who I actually dig) doing some tribute thing to the Tempts, and they looked horrible. I don't know who was worse, them or B2K. The only group I will say in my generation who is classy was B2M, but they're not around anymore. I could really go on forever about what I like. But this is a short and to the point reason. Well, since I'm all but disappointed in the music of my generation (there are a few exceptions), I decided to take it back to the music of my folks' days. They were always talking about it when I was younger, so I decided a while back to check it out.
