Oh, Honey, I just saw this! That is so sad...I feel you! There is just no replacement for the unconditional, faithful love and affection that dogs give. :crying :hug

Peach, I'll tell you what helps me (and I don't know the circumstances behind how you got your dog so this may or may not work with you.) I always get my cats from the pound so I know that every day they have is one day EXTRA they would not have had otherwise. When I lost my cat, the one thing that comforted me is that I helped her live longer than she would have and I know that those years were well spent. And she got to spend those years listening to the TEMPTATIONS!!!!!!! What more could an animal ask for!!!!

And she got to spend those years listening to the TEMPTATIONS!!!!!!! What more could an animal ask for!!!! That is what we do, too! We adopted Coco when she was almost 5..... so she lived 8 extra years, and may not have, had we not adopted her. There is nothing better than a Heinz 57 dog, too. So I have been thinking that.... that we "saved her life" and she lived her last 8 happier than ever. (And as far as the Temptations, she actually went completely deaf her last six months. So she didn't get to hear them right at the end..... sigh.) Peach

See ........... my philosophy is to not even LOOK at strays, 'cause if I did I'd be one of those scary old white ladies who had no man and a house full of cats. Nope, don't even acknowledge them, just say a little prayer for them and go on my way.
Went to church one morning and my mom was there holding this big, fluffy grey cat waiting for me. I looked at her like "what am I supposed to do?" It was in the spring time and we had the church door open. Well, in the middle of Sunday School in comes the cat and I had to throw it back outside. You could tell it had been dumped or was lost because an animal isn't going to go up to strangers like that begging if it had left on it's own.
Fortunately, one of the ladies at church who's will power isn't as good as mine, took her home. Named her Amazing Grace. So at least I know she went to a good home.

I'm the same way about strays, Ivory. Also, I think about things like disease, etc., and wouldn't want anything to happen to our dear Lily. Anna is a different story, though..... she would want to adopt any stray that walked within 25 feet of her. Peach

Yes, another good point. I also think of other cats having highly communicable diseases that I wouldn't want mine to get.

Peach - I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I hope this will help you.
Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
