If I can say this modestly, I am a cooking fool. ;D But I'm not a gourmet.... I'm a....cooking like your Mama cooks cook. All of us women (in our family) are good cooks... and I really enjoy it. I make a great meat loaf, chicken cordon bleu, spinach lasagne, kung pao chicken, and this stuff I made up called "King Creole" that Anna loves... I make my own pasta sauce for spaghetti with little chunks of pepperoni in it that's good... I am not a big "frying" girl, as I hate working with hot oil. That's my Mom's thing.... she makes great fried chicken, so that's where my daughter goes for chicken, as it is her favorite! Peach

I love to cook as well, Peach. As I have mentioned before, my Dad was a chef, so I like a lot of different types of foods. My specialty is Beef Stroganoff... but I also make great blackened salmon filets; chicken and shrimp gumbo; and Cocquille St. Jacques - scallops in a white wine sauce that I serve over Angel Hair pasta with freshly grated Parmesan cheese. I'm also good at making marinated beef, shrimp, and chicken shishkebobs, and a really good Caesar pasta salad made with linguine. I make GREAT pancakes and waffles, but I'm not great at baking cakes and pies... my son never cared the least bit about eating sweets when he was growing up, so desserts just went to waste in our house. He recently had to show his wife that he could make my pancakes and waffles because he is SO SPOILED. He never had pancakes made from a mix except on Boy Scout camping trips, and he told her that 'Aunt Jemina' would not be visiting their kitchen. ;D

Gumbo!!! ;D And Anna has been bugging me to buy some scallops sometime... she loves seafood. I come from the same school....pancakes and waffles from scratch, with buttermilk, of course! ;D The Schwan's man hates me because I won't buy his pre-packaged food. I tell him, "Why spend twice as much on something I can make myself--and better than that, too!" (Does everyone have a Schwan's man or is that regional?) Unfortunately, we all have major sweet tooths (teeths? hee) and my mom helps that along... she is the dessert maker for us....and makes some incredible caramel pecan/cinnamon rolls. They are heavenly!!! Peach

Made my great granny's chicken and dumplings today...the perfect comfort food. It has to be made with fresh chicken stock from boiling the heck out of two whole chickens for a couple of hours, straining the broth and then adding the dumplings made from buttermilk and self rising flour...fluffy ones that look like little clouds not thick noodles. Then more fresh chicken breasts fried to go along with it. Serve with mashed potatoes, candied carrots, half runner green beans, and home made hot rolls. Pecan pie for dessert. Then it's back to Lean Cuisine for the week. Tess
