I don't think they will ever record again.

There really is no money in it for them.
I give Otis and Melvin a lot of credit, because years ago they figured out the only way that they could earn a living was to keep performing.

As do most of the old group. Just no money in making and promoting records for these guys anymore.

I don't think there is any interest in the current Line-up. Time has caught up with the group. The Temptations are considered Old School, and Old School music is not being played on Radio Stations. The young person is into the style of music today. There is still a place for them doing concerts.....But would I spend money to see them I don't think so! Release all the albums and the 3rd album from atlantic Records still in the vault. Release TCB and GIT on Broadway Solo work by Dennis, Eddie and David ALL OF THESE ARE STILL COLLECTOR ITEMS HOW KNOW'S SINCE ARSENIO HALL IS BACK ON LATE NIGHTS - THE TEMPTS MIGHT SHOW UP GOD BLESS YOU ALL DR.TEMPTATION

I don't think they will and I do not want another album of covers. Plus the new music they did have started to sound dated and they're no longer with Motown and not with any major label. I liked only the first half of "Legacy" but the second half sounded like it was recorded in the late 80s instead of the early 2000s. Doc T, remember Hip-O Select released David and Eddie's Motown records on two cd sets each. You can get their Ruffin & Kendrick album for download. I am sure you could find the other post Motown albums too. The Tempts' "Bareback" is available for download... I have it (I also found the LP downstairs in my grandfather's collection!) I have ordered "Hear to Tempt You" for about 40.00 but I never got it . There are only a few albums not available on CD or for download. A lot of Dennis' work between The Contours and The Tempts have been released on compilations. I'd like to see more of everyone's unreleased stuff released. For now, I can cobble together stuff from various sites.

There has to be a market for the Tempts for them to sell records, but I don't think that market exists, at least by conventional views.

The main issue with a recording Tempts is that they've hired Bruce the screamer. I don't like excessive screaming but he certainly seems to. It's all over "Back to Front." He's always been a very questionable hire and, really, the only questionable hire in the Tempts history. Vocally, he just isn't particularly special. Everyone else Otis has hired has been special. Not him.

Doc, how much for Woodson? I have the album, and it's worth each and every penny. Really. Ali was one of the best -- if not the best-- lead singer the Tempts ever had.

Concerning the chance that The Temptations will ever record again -- I don't think so. And, honestly, they shouldn't try ...

I could see someone overseas buying a new Tempts album, but I can't see any play in the States. So it may not be financially feasible to go that route. Like Edafan said, performing ive is the best way to make a living. With Otis in his 70's, I wonder how long that will go on. Duke Fakir of the Tops is going to retire soon and Henry Famborough of the spinners is the only one left.
There's always the vaults, though. You guys, who remember when we used to talk about that years ago, remember this.
