As we may all know, Terry Weeks has been a member of the Temptations for about 15 years. That's enough time to have a vested interest in the legacy of the legendary quintet. He does, however have a vocal texture and style that doesn't really fit their traditional lead singer style. His voice is similar to Freddy Jackson and Donny Hathaway, who were both solo artists. Terry is a solo artist who's become part of the legacy. He doesn't sing any former lead singers' parts particularly well, and doesn't sound very similar to most of the former leads that he tries to interpret on stage. Now, he's not a bust or trash. He's just not traditional. To add to that, he's shorter than 6ft tall. But when he gets an original lead of his own, he's "DynoMite". Who can sing "My Love", "I'm Here", "Your Love" and just about any song on 'Phoenix Rising' where he sang lead.

Did Richard's voice fit the "traditional" voice that carried the majority of the leads?..... No!!!! He sounded ok on his "own" songs. When he did David's songs, he tried to "rough up" his voice, and it wasn't happening. I guess you meant the raspy, churchy style that David, Paul, Dennis, Theo, Bo, GC and now the one that Bruce "tries" to emulate? But Terry's there to keep the group fresh without trying to reinvent themselves. I guess Terry was brought in to "update" their sound. Remember, they do still try to sell a CD or two LOL!!!

Uuuuh, you didn't include Ali, whom I'd place right behind David and Dennis, just out of respect. Bruce isn't even close. Terry's voice seems even less conventional than Richard's. He's more versatile than Richard's though.

Well, although I don't care much for Bruce, he and Terry are both more natural barritones than Richard ever was. Listen to the Barry White remake on which Bruce sang lead a couple of albums ago. Richard was a more natural Tenor/2nd Tenor. Just listen to his leads. They even transposed 'Just My Imagination' to a higher key, which allowed Richard to sing "Every night..." with a more natural vocal.

I wouldn't go as far as saying they suck. I would rather have 2 different lead vocalists than those 2. But if I were to keep one of them, it'd definitely be Terry. At least he's vested. Bruce can go right now. Terry set such a high bar for himself with 'Phoenix Rising'. I just wish they'd put some of his original leads in the show.

All of you who are willing to be honest admit it, that two part lead terry and Bruce did one first kiss was some nasty crap. Otis your present group is no better than a fifth rate tribute group

Okay, really didn't mean to leave out Ali, 'cause he could sing Richard into the ground and sounded the closest to David, albeit he was tad bit too coarse at times. Even though David had a rough voice, he could enounciate and made every word he sang was clear and understood. Uuuuh, you didn't include Ali, whom I'd place right behind David and Dennis, just out of respect. Bruce isn't even close. Terry's voice seems even less conventional than Richard's.
