:-/Sad to say this Where are the Voices Bruce is average - unpolished....The CD "still here" average Ron is average - Terry is the best voice ......But he can't carry the group like a David, Dennis or Ali Joe Herndon is just a bass Otis Williams represents 50 years.....It seems he's back where he started......a new version of Otis Williams and the Distants. I rarely play "still here" and "back to front" "reflections" still gets some play THE OLD SCHOOL "TEMPTATIONS" WILL ALWAYS BE THE TEMPTATIONS

Doc they say great minds think alike so I must be a dummy. But seriously I with you for the most part. Where I differ us on Still Here, I like most of the material quite a bit. the thing is that Bruce and Terry are supporting cast types. Bruce is "ok" on Diamonds, Id love to hear Theo do it. On going Home Terry just plain sucks. He actually irritates me. Seems they backed Bruce up off all that dagnabbit screaming, thank God. Ron is obviously at the end of his career. O, O, are listening bring in some young guys

Otis should bury the hatchet with Dennis and welcome him back into the group. Drop both Bruce and Terry and add David Sea. That would be the best line-up possible today. If Theo wasn't tied to the Tops, he would be my choice instead of Sea.

If Theo wasn't tied to the Tops, he would be my choice instead of Sea. I am not sure if Dennis actually would want to join O's Temptations again. He appears to be happy with what he's doing at the moment. The thought of having Theo back in O's Tempts is truly tempting however. Theo, it is said, has left the Four Tops.

Really not feeling Bruce in the group. He screams too much..... just sing the doggone songs. Another negative, I know that looks shouldn't come into play here, but he just doesn't look "Temptation-like".

I am not sure what is going internally with the Tempts but changes definitely needs to be made. They are celebrating 50 years in the business and this is not a way to to show the world that you have been on top of your professions for a half century. Two names comes to mind as great vocalist that could step up and give a rousing rendition of the Tempts of old. Theo Peoples or Johnnie Gill. Both are powerful vocalist and could take the group back up to a superb level of standards that is lacking.

From what music I have heard from the current lineup, it's not up to caliber. With previous leads like David, Dennis and Ali, the group not having someone to pull off the really powerful vocals really takes away from it. Dennis' lineup is better, they put their own style on the songs, while the official Temptations are just flat.

I think that the big problem is the classic line up was falsetto,bass,baritone,baritone/tenor,otis,tenor/baritone,this lineup has falsetto, bass, high tenor, baritone and otis and althrough bruce can sing he sounds more like barry white than any previous baritone.

Check them out in concert if they come to your area...I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how good they sound using all those differnt vioices that you spoke of..Ron bouncing off Joe's bass brought back a lot of memories when Eddie and Mel used to hit you "Hi and Lo"with Otis heading up the middle with the other Temps...Wish you could hear them sing "Hello Young Lovers"!!!Priceless...

I had the opurtunity to check them out last eve in Houston. Let me preface by stating I like many of you appreciate great music.Well, I have to agree with Doc. When I heard of Bruce I said to myself" Ill give him a try". I just cant accept him since he is soo average, he didnt standout tallent wise. the guys steps were not up to par and they came out in pepto bismal pink suits and shoes with sky blue satin shirts and ties WTF?I have seen the temps 15 times sine 1987. I have all thier albums but 4(and those are greatest hits)Im a temp fan but I just wanted to yell out "sit yo big #$% down!"Infact the wife and I left when they were introducing themselves.... I cant take that no more. As soon as we got to the car we shuffled for lovers only and milestone just to get that mess out our heads. I cant take that no more, I have bought all these recent albums hoping they find the magic again....(not!) today im really sad....it was like seeing Ali fight Forman,or Jim Brown saying im comming back again, I just want to yell out "sit yo old $#@ down. Its time to quit! There were a few moment when I heard a decent melody but shortly afterwards Bruce or should I say "big sexy".......Not! would do that screaming and I found myself frowning....ali, dennis, david ,richard, paul, eddie, glenn and theo....thems my boys!!

Really? You guys walked out? Wow. What is it about Mr. Williamson you don't like? How do you feel about the rest of the current members?

Let me be clear,I was disapointed in the whole package.I have NEVER walked away early from a concert before last eve. I have to be honest the venue played a part in it as well, it was warm in there. Dennis was a good replacement for David,Richard flourished in Dennis` absence and carried them through the Disco Years until dennis returned and when the group needed a b-12 shot in comes Ollie and then Theo. After them they just seem to loose steam. Mr Williamson can sing me under a table. He reminds me of a sarah Palin type(some love her, others can figure out why other love her)The bass singer joe was deep, kinda reminds me of the bass singer of the old chi-lites(thats deep). Ron maintained and to me Terry was a bit hyper in his movements and Otis....well he looked his age. Look, I love the Temps and what they always stood for,I just think they were a bit weary last eve, And for what promoters charge they should bring it. The big guy was singing a song(which escapes me) and as soon as the chorous came in for a few tics he ran to the table and chugged some water as soon as he swallowed it he fell into the song....I was alil taken aback by that. If your gonna sing a song by Al Green, Denise Williams ,Chaka Kahn just to name a few. You better bring it. Big Bruce sang Treat her like a ladie and in my opinion couldnt put his signature on it.Compounded with a warm theatre , Pink suits and tired men I just said lets go, and I noted that I wasnt the only one leavin early either. In the past 2 months ive seen Gladys(excellent) Smokey (honerable mentioning) and the Temps(damn). I love the temps I just cant see em no more...they will always be in the corner of my heart , its always open. They have always been able to squal, thats why I love the so.Last night was no enchanted evening and like the song from the solid rock album goes..."every roads got to end somewhere"

You cant go to today's shows looking for the past. Its gone! They are dead! The bar has been set too high for the current singers. Otis himself said it was magic when David and Eddie, Paul and Melvin were the classic five. Dennis was the right man at the right time too. And remember he caught hell when he first joined the group. But he won them over with Cloud Nine and he stole David"s I'm Losing You on TCB. Add to that the music isnt nearly as good as it was then nor the writing. While Relections and Back To Front dont do anything for me ,Still Here is not bad. I like Soul Music as well as Diamonds. Bruce does not look like a Temptation and I thought he tried to sound like Dennis in his previous group but it wasnt working. Hey we will probably never see or hear what we remember of the the great Temptations but I can apprieciate that we can still go and see a reasonable facsimile of Temptations! Its a night out, so what the hell I might as well enjoy it till its gone. I have been fortunate enough to see every incarnation of the group and I still go. I go because its the Temptations! Its the music! They may not be The Classic Five or HOF Six but its Temps music and I still want to hear it! By the way, there was a time when Ali had orange hair! If we can get past that, we can live with what we see up there now.

You are so "on point" Musicman... and to take this conversation to another level without making this a racial issue, look at the make-up of the audience, the last three Temps concerts that I attended were about 75% older whites.. and grant you these were 1500-2000 seat arenas, they were packed, having a good time, singing along, standing and dancing with these Temptations...Now two of the concerts G C was with them, and the last one I saw, Bruce was there but never once did I hear from that crowd anything like "get his fat ass off the stage"or "I want my David ,Eddie,Dennis,Ali,Theo,Glenn,Paul,or Richard" back..I doubt that these people even remember the names just mentioned ..mainly because they are loyal to the "sound"and not what a Temp supposed to look like..you think they noticed every mis-step in the dance moves..No!!! They were just glad to have someplace to go and enjoy themselves in an "OLD FOLK" setting...Thank You TEMPS for coming to our area..and I along with that 75% enjoyed you.......
