AND What's wrong with White Castle? Aba..if you know anything at all about White Castle, you know that the only time you can enjoy them is after you've closed the nightclub at 3:00am. Any other time...

We finally have a few in Minneapolis. The first one was built in Maple Grove, Minnesota, and the first time my husband and I visited that store, the line was out the door! Now, they sell them in boxes by the dozen at our local grocery stores, however, my fascination for them has dwindled down into nothingness. ;D

Now, this Krispy Kreme obsession was really for a great cause....Woman's 13-day Krispy Kreme vigil ends as store opens 08/27/2003 Associated Press For 13 nights, Annie Lewis slept on the street just feet from the area's first Krispy Kreme store, setting a record ahead of its opening. The East Lansing resident beamed as her son, 12-year-old Gregg Pullano, cut a ribbon Tuesday, signaling the opening. Gregg, who is autistic and is obsessed with Krispy Kremes, was the first customer through the door. The previous Krispy Kreme record of most nights spent outside a store before it opens was 12. Lewis said she camped out to make Gregg happy and to raise awareness about autism. She also used the opportunity to raise money for the Cedar Community Playground project, an initiative to build a playground at a school. "A lot of people probably think I'm a nut for doing this," Lewis told The State News of East Lansing. Gregg also turned on the store's signature "hot light" neon sign that tells passing motorists when hot doughnuts are coming off the line. In the midst of his first doughnut, Gregg paused long enough to declare it "super good" and give it a thumbs up. Ken Cantwell of Lansing said he took the day off work to attend the opening. He said he wants to get a Krispy Kreme logo tattoo and plans to have a groom's cake made out of the glazed doughnuts for his wedding next year. "I wanted to have it for the wedding cake, but my fiancee said no," he told The Lansing State Journal. On the Net: www.krispykreme.com

I suppose I should let everyone know that I did partake in the traditional birthday trip to Krispy Kreme with maw and paw this weekend. First we went to my favorite restaurant for dinner and then to the KK store for fresh ones. There's pretty much no chance that I'll have any on my ACTUAL birthday so I had to settle.
I had one fudge iced cream filled and split a dozen with the folks.
