Are the Temptations no longer in general use. Are the Temptations just an obsolete expression. I think the current lineup is an outmoded group today. They don't look like Temptations, especially Bruce. I know....I've been so spoiled by the Original Five plus Dennis. :-[But the other lineups at least looked like Temptations Otis, Melvin, Richard, Damon and Dennis Otis, Melvin, Richard, Glenn and Dennis Otis, Melvin, Richard, Ron and Ali The Line-up on the CD "For Lovers Only" Outstanding Phoenix Rising Lineup was good.......But all you hear on the radio and piped in music at the malls is the FROM THE ORIGINAL TEMPTATIONS LINE-UP PLUS DENNIS. BACK TO FRONT SEEMS TO BE FORGOTTEN. MOST OF THE THREADS ON THE TEMPTATIONS MESSAGE BOARDS ARE ABOUT THE PAST AND NOT THE PRESENT. I REALLY THINK OTIS' GROUP OF TEMPTATIONS ARE AN AVERAGE GROUP. A little out of date: an obsolete battleship. THE TEMPTATIONS OF THE PAST ARE MORE REVELENT THAN THE CURRENT GROUP THERE ARE NO ARTICLES - NO TELEVISION - ARE THEY NOW JUST AN OLDIES GROUP. The Temptations Review is the closest right now to the Originals and they look like Temptations Bruce Williamson is a GOOD singer. But he has not replaced David, Dennis, Ali or Theo.......They sang like Temptations and looked like Temptations. This message board will rehash and debate - other than us who is really talking about the current group of Temptations. Doc T

Doc T Sad to say but that is the absolute truth We're still listening to the music, still watching video's, finding and posting every interview, songs and even words to songs that the Original Five plus Dennis has ever done. And if I may add DrTemptation this message board seldom talks about the current line-up unless someone gets offended by something someone else says about Otis's group. (you think we should be ducking "Doc T") "Original Five & HOF Forever"

Will the next CD be just covers or will they get with some decent writers and put out some new music and really showcase the talents of Bruce. I personally would like to hear MORE Terry and Joe Herndon. I time I think Terry will make a solo CD. The brother can sing!!!

I don't know what the hell is going on with the Temptations. Otis's group doesn't look like Tempts (especially Bruce, he can't help it) Dennis's group doesn't look like or sound like Tempts, especially the high renor and pseudo-bass singer) Dennis's voice has changed also. Both groups are going thru changes and giving members raw deals i.e G.C. and what's his name in Dennis's group( the guy Ali replaced) When a guy asks to be paid what he is owed, he gets canned) It's all about money.....money, money. PERIOD

Hey....Otis has gained weight...well so have I I saw THE Temptations in Concert last Feb and will see them again in Jan and if I could get to more concerts I would
They were fantastic
Bruce sang very well and has a LOT of energy
There should be MORE interest and articles and more respect given to the Temptations
I am personally pizzed that Motown does not seem to be featuring them enough for the 50th ANNIVERSARY>...I saw the Detroit News feature and they had a picture of one of the more obscure Tempts lineups instead of the Classic 5 OR the Tempts plus Dennis and boy did that pizz me off
I was also pretty angry that the "banner" on the Detroit News page does not feature the Temptations, instead showing Smokey (love him) and the Supremes (yawn) etc
The Temptations have left such a legacy of music...songs...voices... I love them and I love Otis for keeping the legacy going
Did you see them sing the Star Spangled Banner this past spring at some basketball game? They sounded great so don't count out the "big guy" Bruce

I feel you Doc T on your original thread and the one today. I supported the Tempts until they added Bruce to the line-up. I refuse to to see them in concert now......When I want a Tempts fix in concert, Dennis Edwards & the Temps review is the closest to the nostalgic sound because of Dennis. David Sea's voice is more closer to the classic Tempts sound than Bruce's ever could be......... Otis made great choices for replacements like Ali, Theo, Bo, G.C. but he definitely dropped the ball with Bruce.

you know if bruce were 6-5 205 and handsome you could feel different ,really liked him singing the barry white song but other wise his sound doesnt fit so they need material that fits his style.

Saw the Temps in Winnie,Tx back in April at a place called NUTTY JERRY'S!!!I know there are a lot of "OTIS HATERS" on this board but let me tell you this, the show they put on that night was second to none and Ive been to 7 Temps concerts dating back to 1970...They sanged the opening of "Still Here" from backstage before hitting the stage while the band played that unmistakable 'Motown Sound"!!!The 1st song thy sung was HELLO YOUNG LOVER which was a surprise to me and they nailed it...the harmonies was as tight as when they did "Live at the COPA" that's when I knew we were in for a performance... because on the way to the show I kept telling my wife that I wasn't sold on Bruce....he changed my mind real quick..The Big Man can move smoothly across the floor, they all can...not the "Classic 5",but TEMPTATIONS..... Thats what I mean! Stop looking for something that aint here anymore and enjoy what you see! It is totally unfair to compare the incarnations of today with Dennis David Eddie Melvin Otis and Paul!! The current lineup puts on a pretty good show. Bruce doesnt do it for me either but he gives a good effort. If it was easy there would be more "cover" groups out there trying to be Temptations! There have been some other pretty good singers in the Temptaitions! Ali, Theo, Richard, Glenn, Harry, GC and Ray have all done a very nice job during their stay. I have never been a fan of David Sea! There something missing there and maybe thats why he has never been in the Temps. Terry is better in studio than live but his rendition of Since I Lost My Baby is great!

Speaking of Terry,I know the " Still Here"album didn't move a lot of fans the way they wanted, but for me ,being an "old romantic" at heart as I am, to hear Terry talks about looking at photographs of "me and you of days gone by, thats when I realize that Im such a lucky guy, cause your "still here"with me...My wife listen mostly to gospel music when we travel on her headset and allows me the Cd in my own truck, one day we were on our way to Houston and Terry had just finished singing this song,so she took the earphones out of her ears and asked me to play that song again and as she listened more closley she looked at me and said "I'M the lucky one" and I was touched by that..I think the part that hit home with her is when he sanged about peoples saying our love wouldn't last, especially with the bump in the roads we hit in our 39 years together,!!! and we're "still here" with each other!!!!!Cmon fella isn't that what makes a Temps album special??that one song...now "1st kiss" is a sleeper too especially for us older gents who back in the day, knew that would be all we were gonna get was a "kiss"!!! but it was always exciting...

If I could only turn back the hands of time for all where we could see those tall, lean, sauve, talented group of young men that we come to know as the Classic Five or the HOF. For fifty years we have bought every album, eight track, cassette, CD, and DVD that had anything to do with the name The Temptations. Ah! but we tend to forget that time has a way to catching up to us all. I would love to see Melvin, Paul, Eddie, David, Dennis, Ali, Richard, Al and Otis bring those well choreographed Cholly Atkins routines,as well the smooth lyrics of Smokey Robinson, Norman Whitfield, Barrett Strong, Roger Penzabine coming out so crisp and clear. To sit in jam packed arenas and colleseums, headlining the marquees throughout the country and the world to sold out audiences. To sit back on Sunday evening waiting for the Ed Sullivan show to see what new tune was going to strike our fancy. To be able to hear those other voices that made their contributions to The Temptations success, as well as the some of the greatest musicians to ever pick up an instrument such as the likes of Cornelius Grant, The fantastic groove making machine know as the Funk Brothers with Dennis Coffey, and Bob Babbitt. I would give anything to see it all one more time, but it is not possible. Unlike many, I would like to take a moment out to thank Otis for keeping the group as well as the name out there. I am sure that there were times that he felt like giving up too. But he didn't, because, even half the house deserves a great show as well as all the unforseeable problems that came with the position that he has held to keep it all together for you the "Fans". Ask yourself one question Temptation Fans. What will we be saying when Otis is no longer with us. Me, I will cherish the memories of one the greatest vocal groups to ever grace a stage and everyone that ever held the honor of having worked with The Tempts. HEAVY IS THE HEAD THAT WEARS THE CROWN! Think about it. Keeping the name out there is all that is important at this point. TEMPTATIONS FOREVER!

Amen! Very well said my friend. Question: could the Temptations continue if Otis Williams decided to retire? Do you believe that the group would go on without him?
