Yes sir!!I think that Ron will take over the mantle when Otis retires..If you've attended a Temps concert lately you can see the "passing of the baton"!!!But as long as there is breath in his body, look for Otis to be there in some capacity, even if he can't physically perform, I think he'll take on a Maurice King-Harvey Fuqua type role and make sure the harmonies continues in the studio and in concert to maintain that Temptation flavor..Go to the "Theater" and check out the videos my friend "Smooth" just posted and watch the "Treat her like a Lady" video, if I remember correctly this is when Otis was recovering from knee surgery and doing some of the choreography.. but most of the show he sat and went through the motions with a keen eye on the other guys, the same way "pops" used to do,"pumping them up" and joking as well!!If you listen closely you'll hear him tell Terry in the middle of the routine,"YOU NASTY" because Terry got "a lil funky" with his dancing!!But yes Otis will be there until the curtains come down on him from up above,,,Let's pray it's no time soon!!!Long Live The Temps....

I have been reading everyone post for awhile now and I have tried to remain neutral in my opinions but, this is starting to get very old. I am 54 yrs old and I have been to the concerts of every line up the Temps have put forward. Each and every lineup brings in their own identity to the Temps legacy. If we each wanted to, we could pick and bring out deficiencies in each. Ladies and Gentleman The Temps are the Tempts. Each lineups had songs that were appropriate to the times of which each occupied. Yes, the times have changed from the 60's, 70's etc. In the era of rap, and women and men taking there clothes off to sell music, to distract you from the fact that they cannot sing a lick and for the most part are studio artist.(notice I did not say vocalist)can it only be evident that groups like the Temps are not selling as in the times I mentioned before.(side note: The less clothes you have on and your slinging of your sexuality the less you can actually sing) The music era has changed., you all know it..I am preaching to the choir. But please understand it is monumentaly unfair to the guys for each of us to rip the current line up and say they don't compare to the "classic lineup" etc. You are listening with a different set of bias ears so to speak. As I stated before each and every lineup has it's positives and negatives. Let's say this, just think about this. Every lead or former Temps that has left the group, how successful are they with the complete package. Listen to the harmonies that they put down. I call the group the six Tempation. The sounds, the backup vocals cannot be compared or duplicated. Period point Blank. Enjoy what you have cause if they stop this, we will be missing the lustful harmonies and sweet sounds and a segment that will never return. Ladies and Gentleman the Tempts are the Temps. Enjoy Them

Enjoy Them The Original 5 and Dennis....set the bar extremely high. At one time the Temptations stood alone. The only groups that I think can come close is the Moonglows, Flamingoes, the Whispers....Personnel changes have hurt the Tempts badly. The Original 5 and Dennis have the writers and producers and the Funk brothers......That kind of chemistry is a rare find. Other line-ups have been very good - but the line -up today I take serious issue with 4 lovers only line-up.......excellent phoenix rising.......good AFTER ALI AND THEO LEFT.......THERE ARE NO VOICES

The magic that the Classic 5 and the HOF had left an indulable impression on the minds of every individual that were and are Temptation fans. However, in listening to Otis and his thoughts on the personnel changes rings true in my mind. He stated that the primary objective was to keep the Temptation name alive. Understanding that everyone that has come after the Classic 5 and HOF made their contribution regardless to how great of small. Now we come upon the fact that we feel that it is not the same. If I said it once I said it a thousand times; Time has a way of catching up to all of us. For fifty years we have been graced with some of the greatest hits by any single group to ever sing a note. Just the fact that they are still able to give us those mind jogging memories leaves an impression on me that will always bring a smile to face and a song into my heart. Being a performer I know all to well how hard it is to become fimiliar with a particular voice or sound and look around and it is no longer there. When I go see the Tempts when they are in my area and I am not performing, I don 't go looking to see or hear Melvin, Paul, Eddie, David, or Ali. It is just the simple fact that I still have the pleasure to see and hear the The Temptin Temptations.

Again, having seen every incarnation of the the group, I can find something I like about them all. Its the uniform we love! At this point in time, it really doesnt matter who is in the group as long as they stay true to the legacy that is the Temptations! Ask them why they are in the group and they will tell you its an honor to be called a Temptation! And for me, I just want to be able to still go and hear them sing the songs i grew up with, the songs that came when times were lean, the songs of their many combacks and the newer songs. I think Pheonix Rising, Awesome, Earistable all have songs to like. Its still The temptations! May not be your daddys Temptations! But still the Temps! Works for me!

Good point Musicman!!!I would imagine that most of the members on this board has A "SPORTS TEAM" that they bleed their colors...in the good and bad times, the Temps are like one of these franchises that been around for years and players come and go ,but they replace them thru trades, free agency and the draft, and as a true fan all you want is for your team to "win" even if a player comes from a rival team, you embrace him or her into your family and cheer your head off,,,that what we Temps fans does...COWBOYS,LAKERS,CELTICS,PATRIOTS,BRUINS,STEELERS,HEAT....It's about being a fan and loyal to the uniform!!!!

Are the Temptations no longer in general use. Are the Temptations just an obsolete expression. I think the current lineup is an outmoded group today. They don't look like Temptations, especially Bruce. I know....I've been so spoiled by the Original Five plus Dennis. :-[But the other lineups at least looked like Temptations Otis, Melvin, Richard, Damon and Dennis Otis, Melvin, Richard, Glenn and Dennis Otis, Melvin, Richard, Ron and Ali The Line-up on the CD "For Lovers Only" Outstanding Phoenix Rising Lineup was good.......But all you hear on the radio and piped in music at the malls is the FROM THE ORIGINAL TEMPTATIONS LINE-UP PLUS DENNIS. BACK TO FRONT SEEMS TO BE FORGOTTEN. MOST OF THE THREADS ON THE TEMPTATIONS MESSAGE BOARDS ARE ABOUT THE PAST AND NOT THE PRESENT. I REALLY THINK OTIS' GROUP OF TEMPTATIONS ARE AN AVERAGE GROUP. A little out of date: an obsolete battleship. THE TEMPTATIONS OF THE PAST ARE MORE REVELENT THAN THE CURRENT GROUP THERE ARE NO ARTICLES - NO TELEVISION - ARE THEY NOW JUST AN OLDIES GROUP. The Temptations Review is the closest right now to the Originals and they look like Temptations Bruce Williamson is a GOOD singer. But he has not replaced David, Dennis, Ali or Theo.......They sang like Temptations and looked like Temptations. This message board will rehash and debate - other than us who is really talking about the current group of Temptations. Doc T ONCE AGAIN THERE IS VERY LITTLE TEMPTATION TALK....JUST DAVID RUFFIN ON "UNSUNG" IF IT WASN'T 4 THAT NOTHING. THERE ARE SOME TEMPTATION SITES THAT HAVE SHUT DOWN. I KNOW FACEBOOK HAS A LOT TO DO WITH IT.....I THINK THERE IS TEMPTATION TALK THERE.....WHAT'S UP WITH DENNIS EDWARD'S AND THE TEMPTATION REVIEW? ?? THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
