Jul 16, 7:55 am ET TOKYO (Reuters) - Now that you can interpret what your dog is saying, how about your cat? Takara Co, a major Japanese toy maker, said on Wednesday it would launch a device called the "Meowlingual" that can interpret a cat's meow, hoping to repeat its success with the "Bowlingual," a dog translation device.
Takara said the Meowlingual, a palm-sized electronic console that displays the interpreted phrase on a screen, will be priced at 8,800 yen ($74.62) and it would aim to sell 300,000 units by the end of March 2004.
Takara has sold about 300,000 dog translation devices in Japan since last year and plans to launch an English-language product in the U.S. market in August for about $120.
It has already rolled out the product in South Korea. The news hoisted Takara shares, which rose 5.68 percent to 781 yen by the midsession close. We better find out if it translates only into Japanese before we put this on our Xmas wish-list .

I may not be able to interpret my dog...but I KNOW she can interpret ME!!!!...LOL Btw...I got Ginger into a behaviorl/obedience class...and DAY ONE...we got kicked out after 10 minutes, she pi**ed off the instructor. We were in class with about 20 or so other dogs and mine get's kicked out for behavior problems...(wouldn't stop barking), now we have to wear a muzzle, she's so busy trying to pull this thing off, she's not even interested in 'sit', 'stay' etc...LOL ???How do you get kicked out of a behavior class for "behavior" problems The UP side to this is that I called the instructor and 'blessed' her out for being so rude to us and she waived the class fee for me and offered us to take the classes as long as it takes to get Ginger in line...at "NO" charge ;D ;D

My dog Cookie is SO SMART. Honestly, english is her second language! I can honestly sit down, give her directions of things to do, and she'll go do them in the order that I said! And I don't have to say one or two word commands, she can understand sentences just fine!

But she doesn't really DO it that much anymore. She used to all the time when she was a puppy, but now she just looks at me like "I don't WANT to!" and then she trots off!
