i've been meaning to do this for a long time and i thought it would be cool to have you folks share a good story from your minister or preacher or priest or rabbi or whoever- or maybe in sunday school there was a good lesson that touched you TODAY. later on this afternoon i will review my worship tidbits if there were any worth sharing! don't necessarily bring up last month or last year- let's talk about today and each sunday we can share what the pulpit brought for our spiritual feast.

well, we learned about John 16 and the Comforter and how important the Holy Ghost is in testifying of the truth about Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father and how the Spirit can guide you in your life by having the Holy Ghost as your constant companion. it was a good day. did any body go to church today and learn anything- i can't believe that sukkafu's the only one! it's not possible!

Of course they did. Our lesson was on "When Good People Do Bad Things." And I'm not joking.

We came out of Job 23:10. The name of our sermon was "I'm Coming Out." It was about standing and trusting in God during your trials. My aunt delivered it. Very good message. I left church happy.

Ivory went to work, didn't sell anything. She learned that if you want to sell anything, it's important to have actual customers walk in the door.

I really don't know. Every Sunday it's the same old thing at my church, so nothing really "uplifts" me. I just need to graduate so I can hurry up and lead my own spiritual life.
But one time lately (I know it's supposed to be from TODAY, but I want to participate!) I watched the movie Chocolat, and I thought it had a very good message. The best part of the sermon said this:
"I think we can't go around measuring our goodness by what we don't do, by what we deny ourselves, what we resist, and who we exclude. I think we've got to measure goodness by what we embrace, what we create, and who we include."
Not bad, huh? And I love it so much because I think people judge and compaire people way too much.

We had a guest preacher today, Dr. Cynthia McCullough, who was an excellent speaker. Her sermon was titled, "The Best Is Yet To Come". She related to the story in Luke 5: 1 - 11, where Peter, James and John had the largest catch of fish they'd ever seen. Jesus told them, "Come with me and I will make you fishers of men". The sermon was about how we comfortable we can get when we've got a good job, great house, good marriage, great kids, nice car, lots of clothes, etc. We can make the mistake of putting time for God on the back burner 'cause we think we're doing so well. Things may be going great for us... but if we don't put God first, we may miss out on even greater blessings He may have in store for us. If we want God's best, we have to give him the best of ourselves. He has great things in store for each of us... we just need to give our lives over to Him and serve Him with gladness. The best IS truly yet to come....

thank you niece baby ! thank you very much tdalgalpal!
it seems like missionaries in general have the hardest time getting well to do folks' attention in upscale neighborhoods. they don't think they need God. the poor and those down trodden often respond much more to the Gospel because they are humble either because of station or because they humbled themselves.

Well yall know I kindda just moved out here to this small town, but right now we're visiting a church on the other side of town. I've never been to a church like it before because it's very diverse (as far as races and ethnic groups). Today we talked about knowing who you are in Christ. My friend went with us because she spent a night on Saturday. She said what made her think was when the pastor said, "If you're not letting God control your life, then you're under Satan's control, because it's either one or the other, you may think you do, but you don't control yourself."

they don't think they need God.
That's one thing I don't understand. I have this friend who doesn't even believe people have SOULS much less that there's some weird thing up in the sky that created all of us. So she thinks that when you die, you just die. That's it. The end. But I don't see why you would WHAT to believe that. I think it's more comforting knowing that one day, you'll get to see all your friends and family again.
