Karl Malone? And I was thinking I was going to like the Lakers this upcoming season because they've got Gary Payton now. Karl Malone just messed them up for me.

malone as a laker makes the lakers a champion again. it's in the cards, he's resilient and he's great. He's still one of the premier players in the league. the man is a machine.

Boy it's sure gonna be "exciting" next season! Still a lopsided league! 4 powerhouses, LAL,Sac,SA & Dallas. Not to thrilling when 90% of the country expects LA to win the title. YEAAA!!!! :sleepy: I'd be glad for GP and Malone. I hope they get some veteran reserves as well, like Kevin Willis won this year.

It'll be great for Karl Malone to be on a "Dream Team" again, won't it. I am FAR from being a fan of the Lakers, but I hope it works out well for Malone.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch. I believe it was 1968 when the lakers had West, Baylor and Chamberlain and they didn't win it. 4 superstars don't always add up to one championship. They say they are willing to sacrifice for the good of the whole bur old habits die hard and it remains to be seen just how much they are willing to do so.

AND IN RELATED NEWS... Larry Bird Returns to the Indiana Pacers
By MICHAEL MAROT, AP Sports Writer
INDIANAPOLIS - Larry Bird is joining the front office of the Indiana Pacers, returning to the team he coached to the NBA Finals three years ago.
Bird will become president of basketball operations, taking over day-to-day operations of the team from Pacers president Donnie Walsh, who has led the franchise since 1986 and will remain as its chief executive.
Bird has been out of basketball since walking away from the Pacers when his three-year coaching contract ended after the team's 2000 NBA Finals appearance.
The Pacers offered to give Bird a top front-office job — with the option of becoming team president after Walsh retired — three years ago, but he decided to take a complete break from basketball to spend more time with his family at their Florida home.
"I was sort of worn down and didn't want a part of it, but I feel rejuvenated and ready to get to work," Bird said at a news conference Friday.

So are you saying that the Mailman is gonna have trouble coming in after Shaq? I can see how that might happen. I'm surprised he's not retiring. Do you think GP is gonna come off the bench? I would be interested in seeing him start over Fisher.

I haven't been very fond of Malone since the deal with him and Magic's AIDS issue.

We would be still fighting today if he tried to do something like that to me. Anyway LynnieK.......he will start along with GP, the golve. Now gp I don't have any problem with cause he becomes a legit third option on the team. But all you will get from Malone at this time in his career is bump and bruise with a few jumpers and hopefully soem rebounds.

Malone will have the sameeffect on some of the Lakers that he did on Donyell Marshall. Taught Marshall how to be a pro!
