Question about the miniseries: Is Otis Williams in the funeral scene for Blue at the end? Welcome to the board, mikesgirl! The actual Otis Williams is not in the funeral scene. Charles Malik Whitfield, the guy who plays Otis, is in the scene......but not the actual Otis.

;D Thank you so much! We have watched that scene so many times, but they scan the actors so fast that we couldn't tell if Otis was there or not! We were hoping he was!

Otis is listed as a co-producer, or some such title, which meant that he was supposedly a consultant. But, as most people discover, movie people rarely ask the consultants for advice. The only scene Otis actually witnessed being filed was the one where Melvin and Otis come to tell David, who is singing "Too Proud to Beg," that the drug-taking, the missing practices have got to stop, or he will be out. And he was impressed by how well the actor portrayed David.
The song Smokey sang at Melvin's funeral was one he composed specially for that scene. Smokey was not present at Melvin's actual funeral. He was in Europe performing.
