**** It`s a quite interesting review to read....The reviewer first writes about the Tempts history... and then about the movie and it`s synopsis... Also I found out the little information that I was looking for all the time - "After a very slow start, THE TEMPTATIONS have left us a musical legacy of 12 albums and 12 singles that went gold. The Temptations also had 16 number-1 hits on the Billboard charts, won four Grammy awards and were inducted into the rock and roll Hall of Fame."NB! That is what was written 5 years ago....but except that one Grammy win in 2001, I believe nothing else has changed. **** Here it is: (and sorry if you all here already know it... ) www.thebigpicturedvd.com/html_reviews/bpst188.shtml

Hi Keres, I have read that article too. It is one of the few pieces where the movie is called a "docudrama." But don't you think that the writer Jeff McNeal doesn't know all too much about the Tempts, when he is surprised that Melvin is so positively portrayed? I mean, had he done his research for the article, he would have found out that they were true friends ... I love the picture, though.

This is the part where he writes about it: --- "Written by founding member Otis Williams, this docudrama obviously portrays Williams in a fairly flattering light, but he was not without his faults or regrets.( !!) Essentially, he is remembered as first and foremost, the organizer of the Temptations, and then as the mortar who held the group together through some very tumultuous times. What surprised me the most after learning some surprising details about the various members that I never heard previously, was the affectionate portrayal of baritone Melvin Franklin as the humble, gentle and spiritual cornerstone of the group." *** So, apparently he DID some small research about the members, but not enough I guess....

:laughing :laughing Yes, and that is a problem. Newcomers to the Tempts history have to sort through all the contradictory stories they hear or read. Then they decide to read Otis' book because they assume he knows what he's talking about. They eventually join this here board and read the many threads about this book, expecting to find out who is right and who is wrong ... You know the rest :laughing :laughing
