If you had some creative control and could change three things about the movie, what would you change?

First I would change the way Paul was portrayed .... you'd know more about the high points in his life and less about his personal struggles. Then I'd switch the guys who played Otis' and Melvin's characters ,so they would look more like the person they were portraying. ???I can't think of nothing else at the moment.....let me get back to ya ;D

How about making eddie less of a chump and more like he was made out to be in the book. In the book he had fire. In the movie he was not as tough. He was the one who took stands, but was never tough.

Make it a really long miniseries and cover each member as much as O was covered....adding as the bonus on the DVD live performances of The Tempts doing all of the concert footage from the movie.
Or, if you're not going to give each guy equal coverage, leave out the death scenes and just add them as a footnote on screen at the end of the movie. Since no one is sure exactly what happened why speculate?

how about showing the deaths in the begining of the movie and then going to the real begining of the stroy and telling it. So at the end we wouldn't have to see the deaths.

I want to know more about Eddie.... and Dennis, but of course we can't have that since he'd be there to get mad if it wasn't accurate. ;D I hated that they just said, "What was it that got Eddie?" It sounds morbid, but I want to know about his last few days...
I would have a "David voice" be the narrator... I just think that would add some humor to the movie. ;D Or maybe all members be "narrator" at one point or another. Of course, no one knows their thoughts... so it would be all speculation. But it'd be nice to get other points of view.

That would be a good change to make Cheech. Let the movie go out on a high note maybe The Beauty's Only Skin Deep performance? Kind of leaves you with a little message too. As fine as these guys were with all of their outward beauty underneath things weren't always so pretty.
Peach that would be so cool to have DR commenting with little asides along the line of..."ain't nobody comin' to see you Otis" throughout the movie. Would DR include Geena and DRJr. in his version? He better not leave out the apt. scene. Too much great dialog there. How about where he is moping around and O comes back to see what's wrong ? Would DR choose to show that side of him and Otis?

Thanks Cheech for making this thread becaue it gives me an opportunity to say something I've been wanting to say yet couldn't find a thread for it to go in ........... and I was too lazy to make a new one.
Why in the HECK was there NO mention of Cornelius Grant !!!!!? I mean NONE! I'm not asking for much, but Cholly got a mention (as well he should have) and I think Maurice King's name was also mentioned but NO Cornelius. I mean the man was THE "Sixth Tempt" for crying out loud!!!!!
So that would be my change, to make him have a more integral role in the movie. Or at least put him on the bus or SOMETHING!!!!!

In the scene where David steals the Mic and they argue backstage...David tells them he's clean and so on. I would have let him back in the group. I don't think you were going for this with this topic...but that scene fact or fiction is heart whrenching to me . You said I was a Temptation forever..what about that promise huh O? ' True, true, true. To me that kind of thing is the saddest because choices were made that made a big difference in the history of the group. OTH David made his choices too. Ya gotta wonder though would have letting David back in at that time saved him? Personally I think of "The Group" as the guys, not the intanigble idea of a group of performers which IMO is Otis' definition of 'TheGroup". Therefore to preserve "The Group" you must save the individual members of the group. Tess

I never thought of that. But yo are right. C. Grant, wasn't in the movie. Seems to me like he's a major player that they should have mentioned.
