I AM A SERIOUS FAN OF THE TEMPTATIONS. I have all their albums, cassettes, Cd's and DVDs. I really believe that here has to be a real gut check. The Temptations are a OLD group. If David, Paul, Eddie and Melvin would have lived, they would be in their Sixty's.
We change as the years go by. Personnel changes, producer changes, label changes has all caught up with Temptations.
Right now Otis and Dennis is the real faces of the Temptations. Otis is an Original and Dennis is the next closest thing. They can still put on a good show, but age is catching up with both groups of Temptations.
The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards keep going because of Dennis. He can't hit the notes like he used to, he's a lot heavier......AGE!!!! DENNIS HAS BEEN SINGING JUST ABOUT ALL HIS LIFE. I really believe David Sea and the addition of Ali took a lot of the weight off Dennis......NOW PAUL WILLIAMS, JR (I really want hear this brother sing)
It's really great that the Temptations are still going strong and recording.
The Temptations have a new lead in Bruce Williamson. He not a bad singer at all, but he's keeping the Temptations going. This may sound cold but Otis's group is basically Otis Williams and the Distants, because the remaining (4) Tempts can be replaced at a moments notice. We seen this happen time and time again. Otis does all the talking and the group belongs to him. If Otis is honest with himself......HE KNOWS THE GROUP WILL NEVER BE WHAT IT WAS.
THE BEST THING THE TEMPTATIONS DID RECENTLY IS THE DVD SHOWING THE ORIGINAL TEMPTATIONS PLUS DENNIS. THEY REALLY NEED RELEASE MORE MATERIAL.
Ed Sullivan Show
Andy Williams
Dean Martin
Flip Wilson Show
TCB
GIT on Broadway
Temptations Show
Clips of the Temptations on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson
There's more stuff there that needs to be released.
The greatest thing is that the VOICES of David, Dennis, Eddie, Paul, Melvin and Otis were recorded. Motown captured those great voices and we can play the Album's, cassette's and Cd's. Temptations forever.......YES on audio and visual
Once music is in the air, you can never recapture it. The live Temptations sound different from the Album or CD. I put the accapella tunes from the DVD on CD.....MY goodness the Voices, The Harmony
The Doctor Temptation
