I watched Ali Woodson on tv yesterday singing with gospel harpist Jeff Majors. You know what that boy is bad!!!!! I know for most of you David is a sentimental choice as the top lead of all Tempts history but That Ali cat is unrivaled in my honest opinion. He has all of the ingredients that make for great lead singers. Showmanship singing range power versitility The best Temptation lead ever imho.

A far as styles go, Ali was allowed to let loose as a Temptation and David was not. When David was in the Tempts they felt that David letting loose wasn't commercially except able. But if you listen to David's solo records the man had a voice that comes only once in a life time. Vocally his work with the Tempts was only the tip of the iceberg (if thats hard to believe) as far as displaying his talent. Until one hears David's solo material you have no clue how talented he was. I had no clue he could scream or hit those high notes from heaven that he did until I heard his solo material.

I agree Ali is a top singer. He's definitely in David's league. But David's beautiful high notes are simply untouchable; he also isn't quite as gritty as Ali. David's voice, to me, appears more refined than Ali's. Nevertheless, Ali's CD "Right Here All Along" is playing at my house very often.
