This morning I heard one of the greatest renditions of "Stand By Me". When I inquired as to who was the artist doing the song it was bought to my attention that it was Jimmy Ruffins, but what made it so unique was that there was a voice in the background that sounded like David. Has anyone else heard this rendition?

Basssinger, I never heard this song by Jimmy, but I sure which I had since you seem to feel David is singing the back round. I know it sounded good!

I must have it. lol I love Jimmy Ruffin. He's the softened version of David. In some songs the resemblance of their voices is simply stunning. Jimmy's high notes sound as clean and clear as David's. (At least in my opinion.) Here's a youtube clip with Jimmy that I love to death. Listen to the intro ... www.youtube.com/watch?v=bk__fk-L7Yk

lol ... I guess you guys just sent me on one of my missions again .... ;D I've already got a few of their duets, and I do like them a lot. My favorite is "Your Love Was Worth Waiting For." Jimmy and David are just great together ...

It seems like this album is a good candidate for re-issue on the Hip-O-Select label.

The original was by Ben E. King, right? I may be wrong ... Ben wrote the song and offered it to the Drifters. They refused it and when Ben went solo he did it and the rest is history.
