i love America so much- we have not one perfect person on this earth but we have the greatest nation in the world. more freedoms than anywhere else and the highest standard of living in the world. more opportunity for success. every world religion has a place of worship here. even room for ivory and pat buchanan in the same country- pat stay in your far corner please! ;D what those men risked on july 4th 1776 was incredible. it is so stirring to my soul to read the declaration of independence and the constitution of the usa. many many soldiers and sailors have died to protect what we sometimes take for granted. in my city of san marcos and surounding area we have chinese, japanese, mexican, korean, filipino, brazilian, english, african -american, africans, australians, new zealanders, jamaicans, haitians, puerto rican, cuban, dominican, russian, french, german, etc. i have spoken to many of them and they love our country and are so glad to be here.many are now citizens. my daughter in law is mexican and she's pretty close to getting her u.s. citizenship this year. she loves her mexico but she's proud to become an american. as a conservative democrat i support my liberal friends and my republican friends and all others in their right to believe what they want as long as they do not try to overthrow our democracy. God bless you all for the 4th of july- remember the picnics and bbq and fireworks are a celebration of freedoms and independence! and never never never forget our beloved KEEKS!! why do you folks love america-land of the greatest american group -the temptations!

What I believe...... I believe in rainbows and puppy dogs and fairy tales... Wait a minute..... sorry. Why I love America? I love that you can talk negatively about the Government and not get whacked. :bonk: I love that I can hear that jingle for Chevrolet again, "Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet." I love the beauty right in my backyard. I love that we *all* have opportunities, if we choose to take them. Peach

temptsinfo.com/smilies/wtg.gif All of that food sounds positively yummy, Sukkafu!! I don't have any definite plans, save for cake and ice cream at my brother's. (His 39th b-day is tomorrow.) My daughter's best friend will be joining us, as her mother is 10 months about-to-burst pregnant and not wanting to brave the heat. I think we may go have dinner at Sonic, then head to Windsor Lake for the booths, some kids games, then a great fireworks show. Nothing really definite....Anna used some of her allowance to buy some little fireworks, sparklers, etc. She can't wait to try those out with her best friend! Peach

There are many reasons why I love America, but the biggest reason is because you can be different from everybody else. It's not that "Hey! You're unique, just like everybody else!" type of thing, but you can actually stand out without being alone and have people treat you just the same.
And, I also like saying EXACTLY what I'm thinking sometimes!

1. I love America's rich musical tapestry - Motown, Tin Pan Alley, Brill Building, Stax, Verve, etc. 2. A person can improve his or her position in life by working hard. 3. Basketball, Baseball, and Football all started HERE! 4. the free market economy 5. the system of checks and balances (it's not working so well right now, but typically, it makes life good for us). 6. The rule of law - we have the greatest legal system in the world, and the greatest, most flexible, living Constitution. It's really a well designed document.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! Here are some cool rules I found! U.S. Flag Etiquette When flying or displaying the flag of the United States of America there are a number of rules for correct flag etiquette. The flag of the United States of America should be displayed only from sunrise to sunset unless the flag is illuminated. The flag should not be allowed to touch the ground. Hung from a wall The Flag can be displayed vertically or horizontally. The stars should be at top of the flag's right and the observers left. Suspended over a street When the US flag is suspended across a street, it should hang vertically with the stars to the north or east. Placed on a Podium The flag should be placed on the speaker's right or the staging area. Other flags should be placed to the left. Flown at half-staff When flown at half-staff during a period of national morning the flag is first hoisted to the top of the pole for a moment and then lowered to half-staff. At the end of the day the flag is first raised again to the top and then lowered. Flown with state or other flag When an American flag is displayed from the same flagpole with another flag - state, community, or society - the U.S. flag must always be on the top. Grouped with other flags When the U.S. flag is flown with other national flags, all the flags should be of equal size and flown on separate staffs of the same height. International law forbids a nation's flag to be flown above any other nation's flag during peacetime.
