Over the years as we know there have been plenty of changes within the group. As a consequence we have to get used to a whole bunch of guys. Some may have been harder than others to get used to. Do you remember when it hit you that you liked certain ones? As an example I remember when I first saw Ali, it was on the Love Boat. I didn't know Dennis was gone(again) just knew Glenn had left and didn't buy Back to Basics cuz I thought Ron sucked. So anyway Melvin introduced Ali as their new lead singer and they proceeded to do Treat Her Like a Lady. When Ali hit that first wail riding up and down the scale like that I said that boy is bad. Louis Price won me over on Can We Come And Share In Love. Theo on Stay, Bo on Awesome ( his energy was reminiscent of Ali) GC got me on Round Here ( he was bad on Can I get A Witness too). Be interesting to know what sold you on certain guys.

Then, when I stepped away from the miniseries and got to the real Tempts, I could immediately identify Eddie without even knowing what the other Tempts (beside David) looked like. I discovered that Corn had that same charm and charisma that Terron appeared to have in the movie. But, it really hit me when I heard that voice! It seemed as though his throat was made of gold! Eventually, I kinda let go of Terron a little bit (I had a major, super crush on him!). Now, all I can visualize is that angelic voice and sweet smile of EJK!

I grew up listening to the Classic 5, so I have always been drawn, (preoccupied) to my Eddie Kendrick..... as you say ramzey the angelic voice and beautiful smile....I have always been drawn to classy debonair guys, so Eddie just took my heart ..... "The Girl's Alright With Me", I'll Be In Trouble" And "Please Return Your Love To Me". He has always been singing to me. ;D It was around the time that the miniseries took off that I really started listening to David's voice as much as I have enjoyed studying Eddie's voice....Don't get me wrong there is not another Temptation that can take my affections from Eddie....But that David Ruffin can sing his a** off.....and I realized that I like David as well.... ;D

Well, as for David Ruffin, it was hearing "Ain't Too Proud To Beg," "Beauty Is Only Skin Deep" and "My Girl" as a kid. I didn't know his name or anything about him back then...all I knew was that voice triggered something in me that made me want to remember the Temptations.
To this day, nothing has the ability to affect my spirits like a David Ruffin vocal. No matter what's going on...the instant I hear his voice, all troubles seem to disappear.
With Eddie Kendricks, it wasn't until I heard his work on The Temptations Sing Smokey that I truly appreciated his vocal talents. Because my dad was a big Mary Wells fan, I knew her version of "What Love Has Joined Together" long before I ever heard Eddie's. Once I really started getting into the Tempts, I purchased all the Ruffin-era albums on CD. Eddie took Mary's song and made it into something special. His lead on "You Can Depend On Me" is, in my mind, better than Smokey's original.
As with David, it was when I began listening to Eddie's solo material that I really started to consider them two of the greatest vocalists ever. They made their names and honed their skills as members of the Temptations, but they truly came into their own as vocalists once they went solo.
With Ali Woodson, it was actually my dad who got me to stand up and take notice. I never used to care about anything that happened after Ruffin left the group. Well, a few years ago, my mom gave my dad one of those "Best Of..." CDs for his birthday that contained some of the '80s material. He would listen to it everyday on his drive back and forth to work and really started liking "Treat Her Like A Lady."
One day while I was at my parents' house, he played it for me. I'll admit, despite the electronic drums and obvious "'80s sound," the song was decent...but the vocals were outstanding. I read through the liner notes to find the name "Ali-Ollie Woodson" credited with the lead.
Then, I got my hands on "The Tempts and the Tops"...a special from the '80s hosted by Stevie Wonder. When I heard Ali sing "Lady Soul" as the Tempts were going over dance steps with Cholly Atkins and "Treat Her Like A Lady" live at the Roostertail, I was sold.
In subsequent years -- as I've had a chance to hear more of his vocals -- he's solidified his spot in my mind as one of the top three lead vocalists who ever passed through the Temptations fraternity.
In a fantasy world, it would be nice to go back in time and take David Ruffin in his prime and Ali Woodson in his prime, put them together on stage in front of a sold out arena and watch them try to out-sing one another.
I can't say who'd win...but it would be one helluva show!

It's personally my favorite Eddie vocal; he never sounded better. And the harmonies were razor sharp on that 1. Eddie's ad libing was incredible as well. (I'll, I'll, I'll) You know what im talking about lol

It was at that point that I realized that singing would be a major part of my life in conjunction to my other musical attributes. It hit me even harder when I had the opportunity to see Dennis step up. Need I say more.

Yeah that's when i discovered the Vocal talents of Eddie Kendricks too after listening to The Temptations Sing Smokey and I do prefer his version of You Can Depend On Me over Smokey's. The interesting thing is The Way You Do The Things You Do, My Girl, and It's Growing were the hits, but You Can Depend On Me is my favorite song off of the album.

It hit when I saw them "Just my imagination" in the movie and then heard the real version. My fav lineup will always be the Original 5 although the Dennis Era and Ollie Woodson era were good too.

It hit me the first time I saw Paul dance! If you watch the steps to My Girl or TWYDTTYD you get to see how much of a dancer was. It has been said he was as good as hitting his marks as Sammy Davis Jr. And you could see it was effortless for him to do so. And you can see the little subtle wrinkles that he delivered in each move and then some. Paul was the truth onstage!!!!

I too grew up listening to the C5 and have always been mesmerized by Eddie's voice. The first time I saw them at the Apollo, I fell madly in love with him. I was also taken by David and Paul. When Paul sang "For Once In My Life" and "Don't Look Back", that was it for me.

I knew I've heard something very special the first time I heard "Law of the Land" and "Papa Was A Rolling Stone."

It hit me when I was about 6 years old and heard Eddie sing "Girl Why You Wanna Make Me Blue" and "Your My Everything." Then David singing "My Girl""Ain't Too Proud To Beg" and "Let It Rain". Then Dennis came out with "Cloud Nine""Pappa Was A Rolling Stone and "A Song For You". Then Ali came out with "Treat Her Like A Lady" and "Lady Soul" and Some Enchanted Evening". Then it was Theo's turn with "Stay". Bo with "Awsome". GC with "Reflections"
