I have a thing for the sound of the bass. Up-right, electric, Melvin ;D ,any kind of bass! I wanted to know what are your favorite bass-lines in any song. It doesn't have to be a Tempts song or a Motown song. Just let me know what bass lines you dig.  Here are mine (in no particular order): My Girl (That's a must! If you don't list this song, your a** will get beat!!!!!) I Want a Love I Can See Love Is Here and Now You're Gone~ The Supremes Love Hangover~ Miss Ross You're My Everything Papa Was a Rolling Stone (Another MUST)  Paradise Don't Mess With Bill~ The Marvelettes Reflections~ The Supremes Going To a Go-Go~ Smokey Robinson and the Miracles Square Biz~ Teena Marie Turn Back the Hands of Time~ Tyrone Davis |

How can you mention bass lines and mention the most famous bass line of them all!! "And the Band Played On!!"- Ball of confusion
I also like Melvins Bass line in FireFly, and why not Ol'Man River!!

I like Melvin's Fee Fi Fo Fum, and his other lines in Get Ready,his spoken segment on "I've Passed This Way Before", Since I've Lost You, his oh yeah's from Since I Lost My Baby,he had another spoken segment on "I'm On Fire", Firefly, and many others.

There are several Bass Lines that make me dance right on the spot, regardless of where I am. The following songs do this to me...
"Billie Jean"- Michael Jackson
"I can't go for that"- Hall and Oates
"Sumthin Sumthin"- Maxwell
"Brickhouse"- The Commodores
"Backstrokin"- The Fatback Band
There are quite a few more, too, but I don't wanna be here naming stuff forever. Haha
