well, is sukkafu famous again? saturday night i went with my disabled friend to the padres /giants game- 56,474 people in the stadium- 3,000 people from my church were there and in the 7th inning 5 of my best friends kids sang take me out to the ballgame -their names were on the scoreboard and their little faces on the jumbotron- but- when we got to our first base field level seats- somebody was in them- one elderly black lady in a wheelchair with a giants cap- i teased her and said - you're the enemy so you have to move lady- she looked up at me and i was about to dump in my pants- IT WAS BARRY BONDS' GRANDMA! 89 yrs old and feisty- she sat next to me and her 5 nurses with limo driver- she lives in riverside -that 's where barry and his dad bobby bonds another famous ballplayer in the 70's were born. i was so happy to talk to her about her world famous BARRY - who struck out to lose the game for the giants-yay! I know this wasn't a main point in your post, but what church do you go to that has 3,000 members?!!

I guess the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has a LOT of members in San Marcos. Charlotte has quite a few Mega-Churches, also. University Park Baptist, Myers Park Presbyterian, Hickory Grove Baptist, Central Church of God... all of them have HUGE memberships and draw about 2000 - 3000 for Sunday services. Central has 4 services on Sundays and they draw about 2300 or more at each one. My church only has about 150 'active' members. To me, it's like the Cheers TV show theme song.... "Don't you wanna go where everybody knows your name?"

Yeah I go to UPBC sometimes down there. I like it. It's a lot like my church away from the size!! I like small churches...family atmosphere. I know almost everyone in my church. And they've know me since I was an embryo!!
I did find a church like two minutes away from my school that reminds me of home too. It's a whole lot smaller than University.

I feel you on the smaller churches, thier more intimate as opposed to those "arenas", or "theaters" you see on tv throughout the week.

LOL, I know what you mean...the church we were part of in Virginia had about 60 members...then we got to Augusta, GA and started visiting this church with like 500 member. Very different atmosphere

it was a regional membership of 3000 that showed up- we have 48,000 members of the church in san diego but we had 3,000 at the game. my congregation has 400 members of which 200 are active.
