...I was given a month's notice. Two weeks of work, and two weeks paid to find something else. ha. Two weeks to find something else. ha ha Anyway, just wanted to cry on some shoulders. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. I've had this job for almost 6 years....it allowed me, as a single mom, to stay at home with Anna all through her formative years. The thought of having to work outside the home for the first time doesn't thrill me. But, worse than that....just the thought of having to *find* a job again terrifies me...especially with the state of economy everywhere...especially Colorado. Anyway....if I don't post anything worthwile for a bit, it's because I'm nursing my wounds. Took off my smiling avatar because it was just mocking me. Peach

Peach - I feel for you. When the school in which I was working closed at the end of last school year, it meant that I was 'displaced' - in other words, unemployed. It took me 4 months to find a job. It is not fun being on unemployment when your bills stay the same. My prayers are with you and your daughter. Hope you find a job really soon and don't miss a beat. I was lucky enough to find a job that I really LOVE!! I go to work every day with a smile and NO STRESS!! Put it all in God's hands - he will work it out for you. That's what I did - and it really worked out great!

Awwww, Peachy Peach, you can have my shoulder.
But don't get comfortable here, after you've let it all out, lift your head up. If you kept a job for 6 years, I'm sure you'll find another one. Don't be scared...I'm only 15 and I don't know much about jobs, but I know that it's not good to lose one...but I also know that you're a member of a great board where we share life's little trouble's with each other, and with all our prayers put together, great things happen.
Now let me see that smile...

dallas is right ((((((Peachy))))) ........... last time I went home, my father told a "preacher's story" during his sermon about a man my mom and he knew when we lived in Huntsville. The man was an engineer and got laid off. He couldn't find another job as an engineer and had to settle doing custodial work. He got a job at NASA sweeping floors. He and his wife had just enough to make by, but they had faith in God. One day, while sweeuping the floor, he got to talking to some big wig there at NASA. Then big wig noticed how articulate this custodian was and asked him why he was there doing that. The man explained his situation, told him about his qualifications........ dramatic pause .................. and when the big wig at NASA found out, he gave him a NEW job on the spot. As it turned out, the new job paid twice what the job he'd been fired from had been paying. So the Lord does truly move in mysterious ways. I was a little depressed yesterday morning, not selling as well as I'd like, not having enough EXTRA money to take home. Then up in front of me, a car pulled into traffic and almost caused a wreck. Fortunately, the cars did not collide and no one was hurt. I took that as God's way of telling me to count my blessings, things COULD be worse.

great posts of inspiration and uplifting from my brothers and sisters on this board- God's children. P=Pray E=Everyday A=And C=Cultivate H=Hope look at the blessings- not immediate termination. you have some forewarning and some time to get things transitioned smoothly. i was fired with no warning and given 30 min to clean out my desk after 8 yrs with them. i have been self employed for the last 4 yrs. it's been quite a blessing, but sometimes the roller coaster gives your heart a little extra beat! i would bet that keeks would rather be in your shoes with anna than be employed in military clothes in hot iraq-20 hours by plane from her kids!

Peach, I'm sorry to hear about you being laid off. Being the daughter of a single Mom, who went through the same thing when I was a kid - you and your little one will be just fine - just have faith. Your intelligence, wit and faith will see you to your next job and the prayers of your friends here will help sustain you. Hang in there girl, you'll be just fine!

(((((((((((( PEACH ))))))))))))) I am so sorry about the news. If I can give you an encouraging thought it would come from ROMANS 8:28 (NKJV) - "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose". This can be a NEW door opening up for you and your daughter. curet30 - mypages.netopia.com/channels

(((PEACH))) Curet is right. I know it doesn't seem like it now, but this will all work out for the best. I'm praying that you find something better and even more fulfilling than the last job.

also in james- if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God who giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not... but let him ask in faith ,nothing wavering....
also in the sermon on the mount where the Savior talks about how the birds are taken care of and the flowers too and how much greater is a child of God- you will be taken care of if you do 2 things- turn to Him in prayer and supplication- and do everything you can with the talents that He gave you and with the family and friends He has blessed you with for support and encouragement.
