So, I guess everybody would agree: Paul was the greatest Temptation. The guys were going to sing, and sing wonderful songs. Paul, being a little more frisky and wanting to sell some sex, got the guys moving! So, Paul set the tone for decades of great songs and great dancing! What do you think? ...don't look back...

Everyone has their own opinion, and as much as I looovvveee me some Paul, he is not the greatest temptation. Along with all the other millions of temptations that ever were temptations, they are the greatest GROUP,...yes Otis included.

I would agree with that. He was absolutely their heartbeat and their soul and they have clearly not been the same since he passed.

...or since David Ruffin was fired. ;D Or since Eddie Kendricks left. Paul, like David, Eddie, Melvin aod Otis made up one of the greatest groups to grace a stage, and that's a quote from one of the 4 Seasons, who were no slouches themselves. Paul drove a lot of good things for the group, but without the others contributing their own things, it wouldn't have flown. David's voice turned the corner for the group, and it's fortunate that Dennis Edwards made his own niche in the group when he replaced David. They were all just a great group of entertainers, and they still are, today.

Paul certainly set the bar for the others to reach for. He was a polished performer before he joined the Temptations and he took over the role as spokeman for the group early on. He did the choregraphy and he was a showstopper every night they perfomed while he was there..... They all deferred to him at the beginning until Smokey began to write for Eddie and later, David. But I don't know if he was the greatest but if not he was certainly in the top two.

Let's see: Otis was consistent; Melvin made it boom; Dennis moved you; David excited you; Eddie made you feel loved or taught you how to love; And Paul, he touched your soul! The greatest Temptation; I definitely agree

I AGREE with everything you said. Paul was the GREATEST temptation. (but of course I would believe that, check out my screen name ;D ) Sure David's voice and the songs he sang on gave them a lot of hits, but what would the Tempts have been if Paul was never there from the start? It dates all the way back to Paul and Eddie's childhood. If you really think about it, Paul made it all happen. It all started when Paul threw that bucket of mop water on Eddie (I still to this day wonder who won that fight, but I guess I'll never know ;D ) Paul was the one who got Eddie to realize that they had music in their heads when they became friends. Paul was the one who convinced Eddie to travel to Cleveland. Eddie credited Paul himself saying something along the lines of ," I wouldn't be here if it wasnt for Paul." And what would the Temtps have been without Eddie also? Paul was the one who got them dancing since he was a showman himself. He also had a little more "business" sense than the rest of the Tempts, and I've been told and heard from various sources that he was the one who showed them the way to professionalism. Dancing and the fact that the Tempts were professional played a big part in what they were known for. Who made all that happen? My man Paul. After the Tempts auditioned for BG, they were signed to the record company on the spot. Now BG and Micky Stevenson loved all of their voices, but who's voice sealed the deal? My man Paul. Paul didn't get them any hits, but he got the Tempts headed in the right direction and paved the way for David to come in and blow the people away. Paul was also an extraordinary and profound performer. He was a real showstopper. Now I'm not knocking any of the other members because they ALL made the group a great one, but I know I really really really enjoy watchin Paul move. He was the heart, the backbone, and the essence of the Tempts. He MADE them live up to the name "Temptation." What is the body without a heart (which is what Paul was) ? Nothing. Paul loved the group and put a lot into it. He made a great deal of contributions to the Temptations. I could sit here all day and write a seven page essay of why Paul was the greatest, so I'm just going to stop here. For those reasons and more, Paul was the greatest Temptation. There wouldn't have been the Temptations we all love so much if Paul wasn't present. There would probably eventually be a group with the name "the Temptations" but it wouldn't have been the same group. So Brunnen, I agree when you say that Paul is the greatest.
