I can name two studio singers right off the top of my head, but only one is really profiting from it: Case and Britney Spears. Britney's so-so live (when she actually sings.. *coughnevercough*) but Case is always horrible.

the sad thing is look at madonna and britney and some others that use the headpiece like a pilot- they are lipsynching anyway! who are they fooling?
the tempts didn't lipsynch even when they were dancing up a storm- i guess it's the difference between major leagues and bush leagues!

The Tempts are song and dance men. Real Pro's. All these other cats really are to me are clowns with mic's.

Ain't it the truth? And then they adjust it like it really makes a difference. And it is hard to dance and hit all those moves while singing at the same time. Guess some of today's acts can't handle all that.

Y'know, it was actually the miniseries that made that song come alive for me again, sorry to say. I, too, was tired of it. Then, I turned it up one day and really listened to it. What a well-crafted piece of work... everything about it....the harmonies, the lyrics, the way the strings sweeten up the song....everything. Now, I appreciate it all over again....... This doesn't mean I like it when my daughter puts it on repeat and plays it 10 times in a row...but I still think it's fabulous. Peach OMG, I just posted this and that familiar bass line started to come from Anna's room.... she is trying to make another Temptations convert in there! She is telling her friend all the scenes from the movie and what songs they go with, etc. (It's a 7 year old and 6 year old..... too funny.) That's what I call a smart girl. You gotta get'em while they are young. All kids whould be temptations fans, then they'll know what good music is and won't be satisfied with everything that comes out. The kids will have very distinguished and discriminating ears.

Yes Earth isn't he the one who sang about the Letter? I love that song. He's not good live?

I don't know about any letter but he sang a song called Happily Ever After (Beyonce was in the video). It was a very popular song about four years ago. My cousin and his wife danced to it at their wedding.
He was also in the Best Man theme song with Ginuwine, RL from Next and some other dude.
He is TERRIBLE. My ma says, if you can't sing live, you can't sing.

"the dance moves today look like cartwheels from cheerleading 101."
And that's one reason I like the Tempts. They have class, and, thank goodness for Cholly, he taught them sophisticated tight movements suitable for singing and dancing. Cholly was really special.
The cartwheels belong to Cirque de Soleil. Now Cirque is pretty impressive, but the acrobats don't sing. And anytime I see acrobats singing, I know we have lip-synch. It's a little bit like people who place ferns in the fireplace, and then try and tell me they keep them there all year long and never bring them out to the light.
I was never fond of the singing groups that did flying splits. Those guys weren't singing at the time.
This is not to say that the Temptations' dance steps are not strenuous. They are. But there's a difference between wild flinging of the limbs and controlled dance movements. The first time I saw the Tempts live, I said to myself, "This is not going to be a long program (meaning 3-4 hours long); there's no way anyone can dance like that and sing for 3-4 hours at a stretch."
I saw a Tribute to Jerome Robbins on Broadway. The songs were definitely lip-synched. I was amazed the dancers could even stay alive that long on the stage.

You know, jackie Wilso did some pretty amazing things on stage and didn't lipsynch.
