Police investigating death of wrestling personality Miss Elizabeth
The Associated Press - MARIETTA, Ga.
Police would not say Friday whether they suspect professional wrestling personality Elizabeth A. Hulette died from a drug overdose, suicide or natural causes.
An autopsy Friday morning did not reveal how 42-year-old Hulette, known by wrestling fans as Miss Elizabeth, died Thursday, said Hal Bennett, a forensic investigator for the Cobb County medical examiner.
We dont have anything right now that shows theres a clear-cut cause of death, Bennett said.
Blood and tissue samples from the autopsy will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for analysis and toxicology tests, he said. Those tests will take one or two months to show how Hulette died.
We do not suspect any type of foul play, Bennett said.
Also Friday, Hulettes live-in boyfriend, wrestling superstar Lex Luger, was released on $25,000 bond for drug possession charges.
Police found the anti-anxiety drug Xanex, anabolic steroids, testosterone, hydrocodone and several other drugs in Lugers house during the investigation, said Cobb County police Cpl. Brody Staud.
Luger, 44, whose real name is Larry Pfohl, is charged with 13 counts of felony purchase and possession of a controlled substance. He also was charged with one misdemeanor count of possession, sale and distribution of a drug called Saizen, a synthetic growth hormone.
The drug finding isnt related to the investigation into Hulettes death, Staud said.
You never know why people die _ I have no idea, he said. Its not necessarily drugs.
Billed as The First Lady of Wrestling, Hulette exchanged vows with former wrestler Randy The Macho Man Savage in a highly publicized ceremony at the 1991 Summer Slam televised on pay-per-view.
In reality, the two had already been married for several years. They divorced in 1992. She and Savage became popular personalities in the World Wrestling Federation, which they entered in 1985.
Hulette also managed pro wrestler Hulk Hogan and Pfohl.
Last month, police responded to a domestic violence call at Pfohls house and arrested him. Pfohl was accused of punching Hulette in the face and was charged with battery.
Originally from Chicago, Pfohl is a two-time World Championship Wrestling heavyweight champion. After a brief stint with the Green Bay Packers, he became a pro wrestler in 1985.
The now-defunct WCW was based in Atlanta.
