melody, you live there. what's the feeling going on right now-it's so tragic to me that people go to a club to party and dance and have fun, and you end up some jokers have to fight , and pepper spray gets pulled out and used, and people get choking and blinded from it, and panic, then a stampede for the door is made, with people getting crushed. 1,500 people in a 2 story club-that's way too much for any club, escpecially in an older building-wasn't there a fire code limit?
is it really that much fun to be with 1500 sweaty hunks of flesh sardined in a small space? i would imagine it would be claustrophobic to me.
i've never been in any dance scenario, club, church, wherever, that had more than 150-200 people.

more info has come out- it seems that 500 not 1500 were in this 2nd floor disco ,not 2 story disco.
they are bringing criminal charges against the owners, for there were 11 safety violations and insufficient exits for the place, and they were ordered shut down 7 months ago! the owners appealed, but the shut down order was kept. so the owners defiantly kept the club open, with tragic results.

I hate clubs. I never liked the dances we had at college where we got a dj and like 1000 speakers and turned one of the places on campus into a club... we usually attracted people from out of nowhere. I hated the loud music... the type of music... the type of people... their attitudes... their habits... It was just not for me. People often suggest going to clubs to meet people and I tell them why I object. I hate crowds too. Having that many people in a place like that would succocate me thinking about it. I hated going to lunch and dinner at school at peak times. I guess I'm just a loner....

Is this the same place where the police sprayed tear gas?

yes, and the city officials never bothered to check on the club to see if the owners complied with the shut down order. failure all around.
