By the way, My Girl: The Temptations Greatest Hits is just that-Great. Although I've heard all the songs over and over and over again, it's like the first time hearing them. Classics all. Anyone who will purchase the CD will not be disappointed. There is a cool remix of I'm Here, all in all worth getting.

sukkafu and Ivory...I own both the DVD and the (shortened vhs). I don't know what inspired me to buy the DVD after I owned the tape, since it IS listed at 150 minutes (same as my VHS)...but YES those great missing scenes are all there.
The mystery of the century TO ME is why they cut all the GOOD scenes (not that there are any BAD ones!! but a good editor could shorten without missing essential stuff!!). When I first saw the movie (VHS) 6 dozen times, and I went to one of the sites that has a "Best lines from the movie", about 90% of them were lines I'd never heard. I'm like "huh???".
And of course it was totally unforgiveable that they cut the David/Eddie club scene singing "You're My Everything" from the VHS. I cried with happiness seeing it on the DVD!! (and it is SOOO reminiscent of the real David/Eddie clip from the WDIV special where they do a medley including "Its Growing", down to the girls crying in the front row)
Sukkafu...listen to Queen Ivory!!! The DVD is complete (except for those two things)

"Welcome to 'Tempt-aholics' " LOL! We should all get tatoos or something! LOL!
Kalisa, I've always wondered how much a role the court cases played in determining which scenes were deleted. The scene where "David" says, "my Momma owed some pimp some money, instead of payin' it, she gave me to him" isn't on the retail version of the tape is it? If it's not, the court case is probably why.
As for others, I'm sure they must of just cut out scenes that they felt weren't crucial to the story line, for time. That scene with "David" and "Eddie" singing, while wonderful to watch, isn't THAT essential to the story line. Is the scene that comes right after where they are talking about forming their own group included?
But they also seemed to leave out scenes that helped the story line in the full-length version. When they are waiting to go into the Hitsville building, "O" comes out and says, "[Berry] says to come back outside and come up with a new name," to which "Eddie" looks at "Melvin" and says, "Thank God!" Apparently there was a scene where "Melvin" came up with the Elgins name, and "Eddie" hated it, but we didn't get to see that. There are other scenes simmilar to that throughout the movie.

queen ivory, if you want to set up a p.o.box or something, i'll send a check for a shirt that says tempt-aholic ! or maybe we could have t shirts made with the temptation information website on it? maybe one day the video stores will have ''the temptations-original director's cut'' which will have every scene plus every outtake in it. ;D

Oh I'm so proud!! I didn't notice I got a shiney new star and a new designation!!
Yes, the scene of Eddie and David talking about forming their own group is there, after their duet. I thought a great scene, that gave more insight into David and made him more symathetic a character, was where he was standing by the bus, almost in tears, and tells Otis about finally for the first time in his life being part of something completely right.
And yes, the scene where they were tossing the football around while trying to come up with a name (Melvin popping out with "the testicles") should NOT have been left out...and where they said a prayer before going in for their audition...that needed to be in there too.
All these, and Eddie calling Paul "Poopie", are in the DVD. And the Park scene...I don't think that's on the VHS. (which I don't watch anymore cuz I really miss all those scenes!!). Lots and lots of stuff on the DVD not on the currently available VHS.
Also essential to the story line, and left out of the VHS, was how hard Eddie argued NOT to vote David out of the group.
I think somebody just took shears and cut cut cut with no particular rhyme or reason. Remember, Mama Rose was also suing about the depiction of Melvin's death, and that sure got left in.

I have the fulll-length mini-series on both VHS and DVD.
The new My Girl compilation plus recents songs is now #23 on the Billboard chart.
Does any one know where Awesome, the album is? I think it's the best one yet of the present lineup.
