on the eve of celebration, i wish all of my comrades in temptville a fond happy 4th and urge you to celebrate the freedoms you enjoy that others shed blood and died for. the rights we now enjoy came at a terrible price but we should protect and preserve them . i appreciate ivory fair and the way this forum is managed. i thank you all for being my new friends and am grateful for the opportunity to share ideas and memories and jokes and stories of our tempts experiences. the star spangled banner long may it wave o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! God bless you all my friends. i am so blessed to have my son from utah just arrived with my 2 grandkids and my daughter in law! i already have 100 smooches received from the sweeties! i've already sucked the skin off constance and the grandkids and rolled on the floor with them. make sure y'all fire up the grill and eat lots of unhealthy stuff too! love, sukkafu! ;D

That's right Sukka! Speak to it! "Under GOD! With liberty and justice for all!" Y'all have fun. I'm gonna be laid up on the couch holding a kitty cat in my PJ's watching movies and eating chicken soup with a Puffs with lotion stuck up my nose.

((((IVORY FAIR)))) Lady, take care of yourself! Thank you for everything! Hope you feel better real soon. Chicken soup is really good for a cold. But nothing replaces rest. And YOU earned it!
My VCR is set for Ali tonight so I can relax and enjoy the fireworks here. I'm reminded of your trip in 99 and the fun you guys had. You have to tell Sukka about Ali's dirty hugs. Where's Puff-Baby? Puff went with you guys didn't she? AKA, Sorry, no burgers. All I have is bacon-wrapped filet mignons and chicken breasts fillets. But there's plenty of those.
Sukka, I know you are enjoying your family about right now.
Happy 4th to everyone here!

No burgers, ahhhh. I guess I'll go and eat my fried turkey, cabbage, corn and salad. It's 97 degrees here, much too hot for me to grill. Leftovers here we go...

well, i grilled chicken breasts with smokin' joe jones sauce from ole miss. on 'em, and honey mustard glaze on others. we had baked beans, chicken thighs(boneless, skinless) with smoke and sauce, and 2 racks of pork ribs. we use coals, not gas thank you very much. we had fruit salad, green salad, potato salad, chips, mexican rice( my daughter in law is mexican-her rice and beans are delish), and then we had juices and bottled spring water. it's 78 degrees, sunny with a nice breeze- low humidity, no mosquitoes, calif. blue skies, and the tempts are here tonight. fire works at 9 pdt are synchronized to music! . we had a happy birthday america cake so constance could blow out the candle. we had a total of 19 people eating, laughing, and celebrating. and it's only 5:30! age ranged from 89 yrs old, to 3 yrs old.we just had great sweet watermelon, cantaloupe, kiwi, and i have plums falling off our tree. what a great country we live in y'all! no one can deny that! i don't see too many people defecting to russia or cuba or bragging about the freedoms they have in pakistan! sad for those folks that don't have what we do!

Ohh Sukka, your bbq sounds heavenly! Just finished consuming ours and I'm about to pop! Plums on the tree? I wish I had gone to a California produce counter when I was there. When I got home, our Kroger had California Black Mission figs and I promptly bought a pound--ate the last one tonight.

Tell them about Ali "Dirty Hug" Woodson huh? LOL! Well a bunch of us had gone to DC back in '99 to see Damon, Richard and Ali perform with the group they had at the time on the same "Capitol 4th" show that Ali was on tonight. My girl "Fair Lady Soul" is buddies with Damon, so we had all gone to the hotel where they (Damon, Richard, Ali) were staying. It was the first time I think that a group of the posters had gotten together to meet one another. There was Ronafied, Mighty, Puff, Janet, Fair Lady Soul and myself, later joined by a gentleman named "Temptations Walk" or "T-walk for short." Anyway, we're all sitting in the hotel lobby waiting for Damon to come down and grace us with his presence, and the place was set up so that you could see the second floor hallway. All of sudden someone noticed Ali walking around up there and yelled up to him, "Ali!" and so we were all yelling, "Ali!" and I think he waved and kept on walking. A few moments later, there he was walking up there again. It made me wonder if he was doing it on purpose, LOL! FLS went to call Damon and the pay phone was near the elevator. When she came back from the phone she had Ali in tow. (That girl has more guts than anyone I've ever met! Just went up to him and said, "come here and meet my friends.") So we all stand up and FLS introduces us to him one at a time. For each one of us he'd repeat our name, "Hello Ivory," in that husky voice of his and then give us this big, full-bodied embrace accompanied by a groan, and, um, I think the best way to say it is, "hip action." A friend of mine has been around Ali a fair amount and when I told him that I called Ali "dirty hugs," he laughed and knew EXACTLY what I was talking about. So apparently that's a "thing" that he does. And now you know the "rest of the story."
