Heh heh, looks like I actually beat Sukka in creating a thread to celebrate a holiday!!!!
Ok, in honor of MLK day, (actual today, celebrated next Monday) here are some of my favorite MLK quotes.....
"Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity." (I think he stole that from DBaby!
The U.S. government is "the greatest purveyor of violence in the world,"
Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation.
Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man’s sense of values and his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false and the false with the true.
I have a dream that one day the state of Alabama, whose governor's lips are presently dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, will be transformed into a situation where little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today.
Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee!
We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. we must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. ..... The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny and their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. ..... We cannot walk alone.
I'm trying to find quotes by other leaders in the movements besides Dr. King, but I'm not having any luck. ............... JONEL!!!!!
