I was in Section 104. Sorry I did not look at my email until today so I missed your note.
In regards to the concert I found the 4 Temptaions sensational: loved their uniforms, loved their precision and dancing and loved their singing.
Bruce is simply not a Temptation. The 4 were so obviously a well-trained unit. He was a clown. I was shocked by some of his vulgar gestures and movements. I did not like his "running" back and forth of the Tempts, sometimes standing in front of them where he was so big he blocked by view of 1 and 1/2 Temptations. There was nothing of their class, their finesse. His gestures were coarse and crude.
I had been warned by a friend who had just come back from Las Vegas where they found Bruce's performance shocking. But the warning was not enough. He was worse than the warning.
Someone said to me that perhaps the Tempts were trying to be "contemporary." I hope not. If I wanted to see obscene gestures I would go to another show. What I wanted to see was a class act all the way and hear beautiful harmonies.
The comedy routine they gave Bruce around "I Wish It Would Rain" went on forever and left the audience bored. Besides with Terry sinigng SILMB, they already had one Tempt searching for his baby which is enough.
I loved their program and the arrangement and selection of songs. It was just Bruce who was a BIG mistake. And I do mean BIG. Otis has always done a good job in picking out Tempts. I can only think he was listening to the wrong advice this time.

I was delighted by their singing of "The Girl's All Right with Me" and "I'll be in trouble" and so pleased at their full rendition of "Losing You" with dance movements and all.

I'm afraid he has been with them a couple of months. He's identified as a Las Vegas "singer." Crude and obscene gestures may go in Las Vegas or strip joings, but not in the rest of America.
Did you read all the comments about Britanny Spears' plump body at the recent award show and what a disaster it was? Can you imagine what people would say about this big clown jumping around on the stage? He actually jumps up and down on the stage. Really! If people want to be entertainers, they must look good on the stage. One reason the Temptations made it to being "the best in the world" was the way they looked, sang and danced. They were a class act all the way. Remember when Berry Gordy said he wanted them to be "the best in the world." That takes work, conditioning, appearance and lots of effort: hours and hours of practice, finesse. It's not merely having a pleasant voice, although I can't describe Bruce's voice as pleasant.
Oh, yes, the other Tempts were good; they were sensational. And that made Bruce look even worse. Their movements were right on and with class. Crude gestures do not go with the Tempts. As for the voice, some thought it was O.K., but I'd like to see him stop making faces, waggling his plump cheeks and screaming through the mike.
It's just that the Tempts are so much better than other groups, that to see an ordinary clown jump around on the stage and think he is a Tempt is appalling. I have to keep watching the DVD "Get ready" to convince myself there really were classy Temptations. I'm afraid Bruce is so bad he will ruin the whole Tempt picture.
I cannot imagine Terry, Joe, Otis or Ron or the Classic Five doing any of those gestures. Someone said that in Las Vegas, Otis had people from the audience come up and sing on stage. One man was really good; Otis kept having him return to the stage and sing again. The people who saw this wondered if Otis was audtioning someone new. I sure hope so.
I saw G.C. Joe, and others the first night they were Tempts, and believe me, they were good then. I think someone has told the Tempts, "You've got to be modern, to be contemporary, to do what other acts are doing." But the people who want to see the Tempts have already made their decisions. They want class.
While I am in this mood, I think the Four Tops' Raquel's attempt to dance, hopping around the stage on one foot, is silly. It has nothing to do with the songs. He just suddenly starts hopping and holding his leg up. When I want to see acrobats, I go see the Cirque de Soleil.
I've been watching the DVD "Get Ready" over and over again to remind myself how good the Classic Tempts were. I keep telling myself surely they will get rid of Bruce.
I know I sound somewhat angry, and I am. Bruce was a bad decision. He is simply not a Temptation.

I am so sorry to hear this because I am going to see them next Friday. When I heard excerpts of Bruce singing, I was not very impressed but I had already bought the tickets. I was hoping that he would sound better in person. Let's face it, there will never be another group on the level of the C5 and Dennis and I really hate saying this because I have been a loyal fan since 1963.

Let me know what you think. I heard from someone that Bruce has toned down his gestures. Apparently those who were shocked, and they have ardent Tempt fans for years, said something to the Tempts. To me his voice is adequate, nothing more.
I think David could sing a variety of ways, like Jimmy he could handle loves songs. and he he could belt out a song. Eddie could handle the tender romantic songs with both his voice and his looks, making every woman think he was singing just to her. And, of course, Paul made every song meaningful, and you heard and understood each and every word. Unfortunately, too many people think being a soul singer means belting every song out with a raspy voice. And Otis was a crooner. So each of the Classic Five was unique and offered a variety of approaches and could handle all kinds of songs, tender one moment, having fun the next, jazzy and funky another moment. They were not limited as many singers are. Bruce seems to only sing one way. I think giving one singer 90% of the songs is a mistake. The group is limiting their audience. One interesting way to research this is to check album sales. On some albums, one lead singer sang lead almost every song. These were not their best selling albums.
And then, of course, there is his weight. If one wants to be a performer, one has a responsibility to look as good as one can on the stage. And to think they accused Britney Spears of being fat. I'm looking at a picture of the Classic Five now, and that slogan, "tall, thin, tantalizing, tempting Temptations" says it all. If they had been five butterballs with beautiful voices, I might have bought records or listened to them on the radio, but I'd never have paid BIG money to see them.
But enjoy the concert. The other four are fantastic.

If I said it once, I have said it a thousand times on this site. The Classic 5 was nothing short of magic in conjunction with the HOF. Individuals that came into the line-up as a Tempt were contributors. You will never as a fan have that uniqueness again. Once again let's be thankful that after 40+ years we still have them here to enjoy and see. As for Bruce, he had to have had some redeeming qualities to even been consider to enter into the line-up.

I saw the Tempts and the Four Tops on Friday ( good thing I checked my ticket). I enjoyed the show. Evidently somebody mentioned to Otis about Bruce's obscene gestures because he didn't do anything that was shocking or inappropriate. I thought he and the group sounded good and of course, as usual I loved their steps. I really enjoyed Theo!! I never had the opportunity to see him in person so I was amazed that he sounds even more fantastic live. The Tempts really need to get him back instead of Bruce. Bruce is okay, but he is not on the level of Theo or Ali. I now have a huge crush on Theo.
