According to The Temptations schedule, they will be in Nevada on July 22nd performing a concert. Offhand I can't remember who is performing free in Connecticut, but it isn't The Temptations.
I do remember that some people are giving a free concert then, but not the Tempts.

The actual date is August 29th. Right now that's listed as an open date, on Ron's site, but.....
It won't be the Review, as they're in California that day. So hopefully it will be Otis!

O.K., Guys, here is the information. The actual date is July 29th, and the Tempts have it marked, sort of, on their schedule on Ron's site. Their appearance is part of the New Haven Jazz Festival and is sponsored by the New Alliance Foundation (if I have the name correct). There are six events during the month of August as part of this Festival. And, yes, it is Otis and Temptations pictured.

Contact: Anthony Lupinacci Director of Public Relations Shubert – CAPA, New Haven Tel. 203.624.1825 AnthonyL@CAPA.com THE TEMPTATIONS Saturday, July 29 Terry Weeks, Joe Herndon, G.C. Cameron, Otis Williams and Ron Tyson For more than forty years, The Temptations have prospered, propelling popular music with a series of smash hits, and sold-out performances throughout the world. The history of The Temptations is the history of contemporary American pop. An essential component of the original Motown machine, The Temptations began their musical life in Detroit in the early sixties. It wasn’t until 1964 however, that the Smokey Robinson written-and-produced “The Way You Do the things You Do” turned the guys into stars. An avalanche of hits followed, many of which–“My Girl,” for instance–attained immortality. “It’s Growing,” “Since I Lost My Baby,” “Get Ready,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “Beauty Is only Skin Deep,” “I Wish It Would Rain”... the hits kept coming. When the sixties and seventies turned political, The Temptations got serious. They changed their tone, dress and music. Producer Norman Whitfield led the way. His Temptations hits burned with intensity. “Runaway Child,” “Cloud Nine,” “I Can’t Get Next to You,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” and “Psychedelic Shack” still smolder. In the eighties, The Temptations prevailed with smashes like the Otis Williams’ penned “Treat Her Like A Lady.” Then another Temptation explosion - it began with their appearance on Motown 25 in 1983; it continued with the NBC mini-series that chronicled the group’s history, a ratings triumph over two nights in prime time. An Emmy Award followed. Then came a series of acclaimed records: “For Lovers Only,” a collection of love standards, termed an instant classic by critics, remains among the most cherished of all Temptations recordings. “Phoenix Rising,” went through the roof, a platinum-plus mega-hit featuring “Stay,” the Narada Michael Walden produced song that topped the charts. “Ear Resistible” nailed a Grammy and a legion of new fans. “Awesome,” released in 2001 is The Temptations at their freshest, strongest, and most appealing. And so THE TEMPTATIONS go on… and on… and on…

This Jazz Festival has a good number of BIG names. They're celebrating 25 years of free jazz. Obviously the sponsorship is good. And it's NewAlliance Foundation, if that makes a difference.
I assume it is an outdoor concert but do not know so. It's just the description of the Green plus the word "Green."

The New Haven Jazz Festival has been committed to presenting world-class performers at free outdoor concerts in the heart of the City's downtown. It sounds good. With their poster they have a picture of Ray Charles. He performed at this Jazz Festival.

The info I had before came out on a newspaper that was obviously mistaken..

VenesuelanFan, I will be eagerly awaiting your review. I have been to outdoor concerts of the Temptations before. Once was years ago at the New Orleans Jazz Festival. Now this is always the end of April and the first of May, and everytime I have been it's been HOT. They had their own private tent, a huge one, and it was packed. But somehow they were so good, no one in the audience minded the heat. We were all awed.
Another time was in a crowd of 50,000 or so. But I had gotten star seating, my daughter knew somebody. The Temptations were on a barge in the Tennessee River, and I was sitting in the front row on shore. And they were accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra. The weather was perfect. But I was wondering how the audio would be plus so many people. I guess the moral is no matter what the weather, no matter where the Tempts perform, you will enjoy it.
