Tharow,
And interesting comment on Terry's voice. Have you head "Four Days" and compared Terry's singing on that to his voice today? I realize it might not be fair to ask someone to compare a recorded voice with a stage voice heard and remembered.
I just think it was a very provocative thought and I aslo thought how David Ruffini's voice changed. It got raspier. Jimmy Ruffin's never changed on the records I have. But your comment made me wonder if Terry would change the songs he sings lead on to correspond with a changing voice.

The Detroit Music Festival this weekend at Comerica Park should be quite exciting. If Levi shows up, if he goes on stage, and if he sings will certainly be an emotional event on Saturday night. Tonight Ronald Isley with Kelly will be there in his Mr. Biggs role. India.arie will be there. The following site has a report on how Isley reinvented his career: www.freep.com/entertainment/music/carter1_20030801.htmMade me think of Tdallasw's report on the difficulty of famous Motown artists in getting played on radio stations other than oldie stations. But the point Isley makes about music changing is correct. There's no reason why an artist should remain stagnant. I, however, have some qualms about seeing any act in a baseball park or any huge outside arena, even if you're sitting in the front row. At one of these outside arenas they were talking about 400,000 people. I don't want to even think about being part of an audience that large. My first thought is, "Where do I park?"

Detroit Set to Break Guinness World Record Contact: Shaun Wilson, WilsonBowens, (313) 530-7860 Detroit Music Festival attempts to break record set in Hong Kong DETROIT - International eyes will gaze on Detroit while it serves as the backdrop as thousands will attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records (Guinness) for the biggest line dance in unison during the Detroit Music Festival (DMF) on Friday, Aug. 1 and Saturday, Aug. 2 in Comerica Park. The current record was set in Hong Kong in December 2002. Approximately 12,168 people gathered at Hong Kong's Happy Valley Recreation Ground to participate in the country line dance. Participants danced for seven minutes and 40 seconds. DMF was approved on May 15 by Guinness to challenge Hong Kong's record. "We were thrilled with the opportunity to put Detroit on the international map," said Kevin Brown, DMF executive producer. "Motown has already conquered the music industry, now we'll prove we have the moves to complement the music." DMF will offer dance lessons and practice sessions throughout the concert. Concertgoers and hustle enthusiasts are invited to strap on their dance shoes and "Throw Down in Motown." Billed as "Throwin' Down in Motown," the DMF is expected to bring together more than 30,000 people each night from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois to hear a music medley of some of the country's top R&B and Hip-Hop performers. This year's sponsors are Greektown Casino and Pelle Pelle Apparel. Performing artists include: Friday, Aug. 1: R. Kelly, Ron Isley and the Isley Brothers, the Gap Band, Nas and Jaguar Wright. Saturday, Aug. 2: Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Nelly, India.Arie, the O'Jays, Temptations, Whispers and Four Tops. For more information on the 2003 Detroit Music Festival, please go to the official Web site at www.detroitmusicfestival.net. I wonder if on Saturday they will be doing the Temptation Walk in their line dance.

tHAROW....THE VOICE YOU SPEAK OF IS THE WAY tERRY SANG WHEN HE FIRST JOINED THE GROUP. YOU'RE RIGHT HE WAS STRAINING HIS VOICE TO ME. IF HE IS SINGING IN HIS NATURAL VOICE, THAT'S A GOOD THING.

It helps singing your own songs to fit your voice instead of trying to make your voice fit the song....If the veteran Motown artists make good music..it will get played...as Mr Isley clearly shows...still has the trademark voice.
