As you all may know, I am a singer. I do my act in Jazz Clubs in my area. But what you may not know is that I used to be in a Temptations cover band, that I started in Philly. Oh, we were very good and played a few local bars and clubs in Philly. But of course we split up, because all of us got better jobs and had no time to rehearse.
Anyway, when I do Jazz Clubs, normally I do standards. It is kind of the thing I am known for. I am the guy who does the standard music of yester year, which apparently the other try to stay away from, which is cool.
Last week I had a change of mind and decided to do the tempts. So, I wrote out some different arrangments for some of my favorite songs. Well, I i didn't exactly write out the entire arrangments, just a few charts for the musicians to read. They like that I usually provide them with that service. And Last night I did my new and improved, Jazz temptations act.
The entire things went over very well. I started out with a three song set and then was asked to do another three song set.
THE LIST:
Don't Look Back Just My Imagination I Wish It Would Rain
What Love Has Joined Together It's Alright To Be Wrong (nobody ever heard of this song, but it had them old ladies on thier toes) Standing On The Top (They never heard this song before either, but it brought down the house)

Cool. What kind of music do you sing to? A tape or a live band?

Oh, there it's a live band. And it's the best feeling. My group in Philly was a band too. 3 singers and the rest were on Bass, keyboards, guitar, drums and percussion.

Ivory, I hope it won't be the first. The reason I posted it was because I never thought to the tempts at a club for a set. It was nice. It was real nice. But you have no idea how nervous I was. I was near shaking on the first song. The rest of the songs I wasn't so nervous on. Something about doing the tempts.

Something about doing the tempts. There's a joke in there somewhere I could make about myself, but since it's Sunday, I won't. If there's any way to make a recording of you we'd love to hear it, you know I can hook it up on this end.

I think the review I gave myself was totally bogus. I was great. I don't think the review expressed just how marlevous I was. I'm bigger than the group. From now on it will be Hype and the Temptations.
lol
