Temptations, symphony link for Riverbend "Cool" is how both Riverbend Festival and Chattanooga Symphony & Opera officials described pairing legendary Motown singers The Temptations with the CSO.
I went to the website Ivory indicated, and this was the announcement that was posted there. However, because I wasn't a subscriber of the newspaper I couldn't access the actual article describing the situation.
Perhaps someone else knows better how to do so.

Not to worry Jane, I've got Moms on the case. She'll be back with a full report but FIRST she has to call Otis (hee hee.) seafan, you all are missing a lot of fine in life being that way.

The San Antonio Symphony is $250,000 in debt and they may have to cancel all concerts for the year if they don't get some private donars. Not that they were having very many I would attend and since the Temps have not been back. They play one horse towns more than they come here. I was going to help out but all my loose money is tied up in land. ;D ;D

Not to get me on our symphony, but at one time they really had a symphony, everyone went, and it was great! What was the magic trick during those few years?
Creative scheduling. They had Pete Fountain come and play with the Symphony and staged it cabaret style. They had a classical guitarist, Van Cliburn, and just a lot of different and unusual guests, innovative music. Then someone decided (I am being facetious here) that too many people were enjoying and belonging to the symphony, and they stopped having unusual guest artists, they stopped doing anything the least bit modern, they stopped having anything exciting, and no one came.

sympathy for the symphony?
i can't go to choo choo town,ive. the concert's on a sunday. i don't think b'ham is a go either.
vegas or nyc or d.c or philly or balt. or san fran or phoenix, l.a, san diego, or even denver are all viable for the sukkaman.

I have to admit I went recently to see them perfom great braodway show tunes and I enjoyed it trmeously. But the last time I saw them is when they played behind the Temptations who all ready don't come here nearly enough and with out them I may not get back to our symphony.

At one time, Chattanooga lead the nation in per capita contributions to the arts. It's such a nice small city to live in. Lots of cultural stuff, urban renewal, and not too many of the "bad" stuff that cities often have. I've had people ask me if it was "safe" to be in downtown Chat. at night and the thought it would NOT be just cracks me up. The more I think about that place the more I want to move back.

the best reason to live in chattanooga is that it's close to lookout mountain and rossville georgia! when i lived in d.c., a bunch of kids in my brother's congregation went to covenant college there. aba, we had no san diego symphony one year, a few years ago. then mrs. joan kroc, widow of ray kroc, the founder of mcdonald's and former owner of the padres, donated millions of dollars to save the symphony. she also spent tens of millions of dollars to build an inner city recreation center, with olympic size swimming pool, workout gym, tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball field, volleyball, racket ball courts, lap pool, aerobics, a track, and it is the shining star that has rallied the neighborhood.

Aba,what you mean"OUR GROUP" ? ;D Someone left Otis's group? K2 doesn't want to see Otis perform after seeing the Review. She wants to wait for Vegas. This way when O lets her down, she can walk down the street to see GLADYS. I'll save her a seat! I know the feeling . I don't know if I would like to be in Birmingham, while Otis is there. I don't think he's too popular there.

Ivory, Your Mother is really on top with the news. Now Riverbend has it on its website, plus other Tempt Tour Schedule sites have it on theirs. I've never been to Riverbend so am not quite sure exactly how it's handled. I can guess it might correspond to what some other towns do, but ? I understand they are general admission tickets and reserved star seating tickets. Will they be performing in an area where you have to stand or where you can sit? Give me a hint so I can get a ticket. My relatives in Chattanooga think my obsession with the Tempts is an aberration with which they have to put up. So they're not too helpful although they mean well.
