Nish...you and I are going to get along fine. The Spinners are another of my favorites. The first song I sang in a talent show was Sweet Thing and the second was Truly Yours. Just to keep it real, Since I Lost My Baby was the third. How was that show seeing that Dennis used to be aretha's man for a while. He supposedly would not sing A Song For You in front of her anymore. So She sings with ALi and Does Dennis sing A song For You in his show? he had to , huh?

I was just re-reading your last post, Nish and you said you don't know much past Just My Imagination. Holy Cow!!!! Do we have some indoctrination for you. There is a plethora of music that you as a music lover need to be introdced or re-introduced to with some background on the work so you can hear it in a different light. One of the Threads here is entitled The Lean Years and I have a serious problem with it. I think they made some very good music during that era and if you are a true Temptation fan you can get into it. Is every song the classic 5, HOF groups made a hit? I don't think so. But they made a body of work that we get excited about. Yet during the Dennis, Glenn era they made a very good body of work that went un-noticed because it did not get airplay but yet included some real nice songs like Love On My Mind Tonight.
It is my mission to make those songs known to all and loved like Temptation music should be. Anything you don't have and want to hear we will tell you where to get it or get it to you somehow. We aim to please around here.

Well hey, make a convincing argument, and I'll make use of my other EOS CDs. Perhaps let me restate that... I like some songs... like "Heavenly," "Hey Girl," "Firefly" "Treat Her Like A Lady" "A Song For You" but other than that, I'm not hardcore.
And you are right. My big argument is that the Tempts B-sides showcase their talents even more than the hits do, if that's possible. The hits are perfect pop-soul records, but a song like "you'll lose..." shows the great harmony in a great light.
And this is good to know. You sang "Sweet Thing?" Bless you! They sang a little impromptu version for me after I told them that was one of my faves, needless to say I felt like a soul princess. "you don't always say the words I wanna hear... but to me you're really sayin' something, dear!"

You're a sweet thing....I said sweet thing!!! and yet you signed it Truly yours! when you're no longer truly truly mine. You signed the letter truly yours Bobby's great line....It's painfully clear that you've been concealing feelings behind lies.

Nish, have you ever seen David live? You don't go past Just My Imagination? Well you will get caught up on this board. Ruff was the man. Despite what you read,David put a lot of time into his craft,he made a style that nobody can duplicate. Aba is right about Dennis bringing his own style to the Tempts. To a certain degree so did Richard. Glenn Leonard was a singer,a good singer who did have some fine leads,If you get a chance to hear "Wake Up To Me",and "Everready Love" you will hear what I'm talking about. I'm glad to hear something positive coming out of Woodson's mouth about his "TEMPTATION FOREFATHERS" because at one time,he thought he put the TEMPTIN in TEMPTATIONS. Maybe with his new found humble attitude he will find success. We will make sure you get it right. I know that I will make sure that you get all you need to fill the gaps RIGHT. Not my way or Otis's way but the right way. Trust me. ;D

Sukkafu, nice to see you dig Pittsburgh, I kinda do too! :-) I dig the Pirates stadium too, especially as a student, because I didn't pay taxes for it! LOL. And yeah, Soul Heaven is my permanent address.
MikeNYC - Hi there. when I said I don't go past "Just My Imagination" I was referring to stuff afterwards. THE RUFF is actually the greatest soul singer to ever live, that's my great opinion for the day. No one touches him.

I did not know Ali had THAT rep, but I can see where one could form that opinion. But you know, I asked him about David and how it must have been difficult replacing the greatest temptation and the greatest soul singer ever. His answer struck me as gracious, and I got the sense this is a cat who truly loves David Ruffin and Dennis Edwards. Kind of like the relationship between Clyde McPhatter and Jackie Wilson when JW replaced Clyde
You know, ABA, Dennis did not sing "A Song For You" and he sure enough was involved with Aretha... that escaped my mind! I didn't see anything unusual! :-)
"I know things have been rough and sometimes little girl the going gets tough but I know if you stay with me, we can make it baby." (Some Originals love in the house this morning).

Wow that's interesting...Nish. He held true to his word. I find it hard to believe he did not sing it cause it is his signature song. I bet RE-RE thought he was going to sing it. ;D

Sukkafu, gee thanks! What a compliment! Thanks. And I think a year ago the Bucs were charging two bucks, but I hope not... they have a new stadium to pay for!!! 2 bucks ain't gonna cut it.
ABA - interesting it is. I think it may be because the repertoire is aimed at the classic stuff, so the general public tv audience may not know "A Song For You," but they all know "Papa."
