I need to uninstall Windows Media Player, but I can't find it! I need to uninstall it because all the songs skip like a scratched LP. I figure maybe if I uninstall it, maybe I can reinstall it and it will work better. It worked perfectly fine on my other computer, but not on this one. Can anyone possibly tell me where I can find it. I looked under Control Panel where the other programs are located to install/uninstall, but I can't find the Media Player. I need to listen to some Temp songs without them scratching! Help!!! :crying

Access is denied. The source file may be in use." I don't have Media Player open. How can I get around this message?? Ebony

Ebony if what ivory said doesn't work. you could press ctrl+alt+delete on your keyboard and go to processes and look for something that says "WMPlayer.exe" and if it does cancel that process and then try deleting it.

well ............ the FIRST thing I would try is just installing it over the top before I tried uninstalling it. Maybe she should just try that first.

I did this and the songs are still scratching. :bonk: I even copied a brand new cd and still have the same problem. I just don't know what could be causing this.

ebony...have you tried using a different media player to see if that makes a difference? I use MusicMatch Jukebox (free download) www.musicmatch.com/just a thought...it might not be your Windows Media player that's causing the problem.

Thanks Kalisa, I really appreciate your trying to help me. I tried to download it and got another error message!
Error: download faild. A “download Jukebox” icon will be placed on your desktop. To resume download at a later time simply double-click on this icon.
(It really was spelled "faild." Go figure. ) I tried to double-click on the icon to try again, but got the same message.
Well anyway, maybe I need a new computer. Now I'm getting a message that I only have 13 mb (I think it's mb) of space left and that it's critically short. So I'm gonna have to call my daughter's friend's mom to see if she can help me. But dang! she talks WAY TOO MUCH and I absolutley hate to call her. She drinks a lot, but knows a lot about computers!

We must be twins separated at birth.
Seriously .......... let's go back to the root of the problem. When you say the songs "skip" what exactly does that mean? DOes that mean they are jumpy?
