TONIGHT'S 135 POSTS IN 30 MINUTES ON ONE THREAD WASN'T QUITE CALLED FOR ON A MESSAGE BOARD AS MUCH AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN A CHAT ROOM SETTING. IF YOU HAVE A RAPID CONVERSATION IN A MESSAGE BOARD, IT CAN DISCOURAGE OTHERS WHO ARE FEELING THE SENSE OF NEVER CATCHING UP . LOTS OF THE ONE LINERS WERE NOT NECESSARILY POSTS BUT REPLIES TO CHITCHAT. WE EARNESTLY SHOULD TRY TO DO A ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK CHAT - IT WOULD PROBABLY BE FUN! WHILE THERE IS NO LIMIT TO POSTS-LOOK AT ME TALKING-6100! BUT WE SHOULD SAVE THE BOARD FOR THE POSTS AND THE CHAT ROOM FOR THE RAPID FIRE DIALOGUE APPROPRIATE FOR THAT VENUE!

And see, I went in there and even suggested going in there on that rapidly going thread, but no one was there with me! I sat there the whole time sending messages basically to myself. Why isn't anyone in here? Is it my computer? (The whole screen stays blank the whole time. I can't even read what I write, because I press enter then it just vanishes.) Then, if people really are in here, IM me so I'll know it's just my computer. Nobody IMed me Yeah, somehow we got from whether or not Al's death was mentioned in the book to whether we like Glenn with or without the moustache!

I'm in the Chat Room now. How do you tell when somebody else is in there? I always talk to myself for about a 1/2 second and then leave.

Ok, so nothing's changed. I can see who's in the chatroom, but my screen stays blank, even after I've said something. I can't read anything anyone says, including myself. Maybe it's a computer problem.

The chatroom is kinda wierd. We tried to go in there today and earthangel had some PC problems, or were they chatroom problems. It seems the chatroom is a good Idea, but it's got to be easier to know when people are in there and for people like earthangle not to have to go crazy trying to read and type responses.

OK, so I've switched computer's (to a brand new Gateway I might add) and it's still the same thing. 1#-)
Ok, does anyone else have AOL? Because I really don't know what's wrong. Computers don't like me.

let's see what ivory fair has to say about the chatroom. maybe she has to have the board tech people check into it. i have been on the chat romm 100 times with 0 response. i doubt if it's all our computers failing at the same time!

Well, as far as *I* am concerned (whatever that matters) it doesn't bother me for there to be a "chat-like" discussion going on on a thread as long as it stays on topic, ANY topic that is Tempts or music related(except for in the "play" areas like the lounge and playground, there I don't care WHAT y'all talk about as long as you don't call Dennis fat! ;D ) As a matter of fact I think that's a GOOD thing for us to be post-festing like that. The point of the chatroom was for a minute there we were all hanging out talking about everything under the sun in the general/music area and I wanted to give us a venue to "hang out" besides there so those who don't like fluff woulnd't feel like they had to wade through a bunch of BS to get to the meat of the thread. There is no way to let anyone know you are in the chat room unless you TELL them. We tried the "sign-in" thing and that didn't work. The only other alternative I can think of is using the Yahoo or AOL instant message system and doing it that way. Bottom line. This is a message board, it's not a library. I want everyone to have fun, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish that (hush fellas!) I often hesitate before I move a thread or make a "rule" because I don't want people to think I'm uptight and anal. Well, I AM anal, but not when it comes to this board. ;D I move threads around and make rules just to kind of keep things organized and make all of those who haven't come out of lurk mode to feel welcome to do so. So does that answer the question? What was the question anyway?

Just in case anyone is curious, I re-did the chat room so that we could still read the board without getting disconnected from the room.

I think it's gonna be hard picking a time that's good for everyone. ............ Every time it's happened so far it has been spontaneous. It's best to just look out for a time when there are a lot of people on the board and sign in and see if anyone's there.

Sometimes I feel like a motherless child. Sometimes I feel like a motherless child. Sometime I feel like a motherless child. Alone in the Chatroo--oo-oom. Alone in the chatroom.
