LOOK!! Y'all are going to get enough of talking about my grandmother and my aunts! My aunt says, "urnge" and "ornion" instead of "orange" and "onion." And I know it's country, but "bays" is one word I just like to hear. My folks say "ranch," with the long 'a.' It sounds like "rainch." My brother and I laughed for something like 5 straight minutes when he pointed out that our grandmother said "zank" instead of "sink." "Go rainch that off in the zank."

Yes!!! Urnge instead of orange. Thats a word I don't think my mom will ever get right...I tried to get her to reprogram her mind and say it the right way, but she gets it from them folks down in Alabama. <<<"Kandi gul, you want some more purnch (punch)? BTW, the love saying gul instead of girl...most of the time its just guuu And yes, "Ursher!" My greatgrandfather used to trip me out. My aunts told me so many stories...when he was mad and wanted to see one of the kids in the house..."Junior! gets in here" really, angel niece? how does it go? Well Rickey Smiley is this dude from out of Alabama...he's on the radio and hes started to get publicity now for his prank phone calls...he uses fake voices over the phone and can really have people fooled. He called the bus station on one of his calls and acted like a country farmer asking for a trip from Florida to Ha-why-a. The man at the bus station tried to explain that you needed a plane but of course Ricy Smiley pretended not to understand. He kept asking for the next bus to Ha-why-a. The CD that we have isn't bad, but some of his humor is startin to get dirty nowadays..he's hooked up with Cedric the entertainer and I think Bernie Mac

Earthangel and Iratherlikeme, you guys have me crackin' up over here! I'm in FL so I definitely know what youre saying!
I find it funny when folks say "wuship" instead of worship or "chaurch" instead of church.
When I hear Lil' Kim's song, The Jumpoff, I always notice that she says "worange" instead of orange..."got my eye on the guy in the WORANGE coat"... For a minute, I was thinking that was some new line of clothing!

For a minute, I was thinking that was some new line of clothing! Thank you for that. I'm just now finding out that she said orange...I was thinkin the same thing as you...must be some kind of name brand for the rich....never thought twice about it My aunt says "ara" too My mom just said this and it reminded me to put it: she says whop sided instead of lop sided

:bonk: I say whop-sided too! I've never used the term lopsided! If anything, I've used the word "crooked" (which I've heard pronounced as "cricked") instead.

You know what? I don't remember her ever calling me anything. She might actually pronounce the 'i.' Everyone else does (except little kids; they call me "Erca").

Most of these country phrases I've never heard, especially not "rainch" or "rinch"! But I have heard "baffroom". How about "moat control" instead of "remote control"? I know some people that say "cunchry" instead of country, especially rednecks, who call themselves "rayudnecks". I don't listen to Lil' Kim, so I've never heard that song.
