I remember it long ago in one of my "Right On" magazines. I don't think the group ever really took off.

Oh you read that mag....I used to see it on the shelf but I was too old for it!!! ;D ;D LOL!!! They should have called it the J-5 magazine because they were always on the cover. Remember the Sylvers? They owed their sales to Right On too.

Today The Boys The Good Girls
I read about so many people at Motown I never even heard of thanks to that Swedish site.
I heard Jackie Jackson had a solo album when he was with J5 but who's heard of it?

It was just a self-titled album.....and it did nothing on the charts. I wonder if anyone has a copy? (Do you suppose it's worth any money) I don't recall any songs from it. Peach

I can't imagine what Jackie would have sang... I did see a review on it somewhere some years ago but as far as who may have one or finding any songs, no luck.

Born Sigmund Esco Jackson in 1951 in Gary, Indiana, Jackie Jackson began recording and playing with his brothers at an early age. He used to sneak his father's guitar and practiced with his brothers every chance he got. At the age of 12 when his father finally realized the boys were using his guitar when he wasn't around, Jackie, Michael, Marlon, Tito and Jermaine were given a chance to perform. The group performed in front of their father first who became enthusiastic about the boys' talents and abilities. With encouragement from both parents, the Jackson 5 were ready to make a public appearance. Joe Jackson, their father, worked part time at a mill and full time as the manager of the group.
In 1963 the group won a talent contest singing the Temptations' hit "My Girl." Their first professional debut was a local nightclub in Indian called Mr. Lucky's. Keith Gordon, the owner of the only recording studio in Gary, Indiana decided to give the quintet a shot.
WHAT?!!! They sang "My Girl" BEFORE the Tempts?! I think Otis left that out of the book! In 1963 Michael was about 4... wow what talent!
(I know it's the wrong year).

AMG REVIEW: Most people, even Jackson Five fans, are unaware of this release. Motown kept it a secret, and you can't blame them — it's weak. Michael Jackson's eldest brother sings in a high, airy falsetto that's more irritating than captivating. The first track is the most commercial, but Jackie's lightweight delivery fails to sell the Corporation composition; the Corporation wrote and produced many of the J5's chart-toppers. He adds nothing to "Bad Girl" and "Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time" that justifies remaking them. The only notable tune is "In My Dreams," a charming, self-reflecting floater, but one song does not an LP make. — Andrew Hamilton
1. Love Don't Want to Leave (Yarian) 2. It's So Easy 3. Thanks to You (Verdi/Yarian) 4. You're the Only One 5. Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time) (Bell/Hart) 6. Do I Owe (Yarian) 7. Is It Him or Me? (Yarian) 8. In My Dreams (Yarian) 9. One and the Same (Yarian) 10. Bad Girl (Gordy/Robinson)
