CHOIR CONDUCTOR HELPS LEAD TEMPTATIONS REVIEW TO NEW CD
Modesto Bee
"Look What the Lord Has Done," a new gospel CD by The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards — with songwriting and production by Modesto gospel singer Rosetta Mines — will be released Tuesday.
Mines, who conducts the Modesto Community Choir and is a nondenominational minister, had writing or co-writing duties on most of the songs on the CD.
The CD features Dennis Edwards, the former lead singer with The Temptations who also sang with The Contours. His voice fronted Temptations' hits such as "Ball of Confusion" and "Papa Was a Rolling Stone." This is The Temptations Review's first gospel album and is released on the Modesto-based 3-M Music label.
Mines said her two favorite songs on the album are "Look What the Lord has Done" and "Lord I Love You." "It just expresses how we feel about the Lord," she said. " As (Dennis) was singing that song, we felt the presence of the Lord. Everybody had tears in their eyes."
Originally from Indianapolis, Mines has lived in California for about 35 years, the past six in Modesto. Her husband, Joe Mines, is a music promoter and pastor of Modesto's First Love Community Church. Rosetta Mines received the Stanislaus Arts Council's Excellence in Arts Award in 2003. Mines has recorded gospel choir albums with groups she performs with, including Voices of Rhema, Sacramento Fellowship Choir and Two Agree. She also sings with a group called Awesome Praise.
The "Look What the Lord Has Done" CD by The Temptions Review Featuring Dennis Edwards is now available in local Bible bookstores and on online.
