RICHARD STREET’S LEGENDARY TEMPTATIONS SHOW HITS AUSTRALIA THIS FEBRUARY!
Audiences will be able to enjoy a "Once in a lifetime" musical experience during February 2005 when Richard Street's Legendary Temptations visit Australia for a series of concerts.
The music is dynamic and the non-stop vibrant performance of this group on stage is an event not to be missed, as they sing "hit" after "hit" from the legendary motown songs that gave the Temptations the title of top R&B group in the world.
Richard Street's Legendary Temptations have performed hundreds of shows through dozens of countries and with their sensational 7 piece band this is going to be one of the musical events of the year.
The Temptations were Motown’s top selling male vocal group racking up a ton of 60’s hits. From ballads to R&B The Temptations covered it all. You "Ain’t to Proud to Beg" for tickets like these as this concert is sure not to disappoint.
Richard Street’s passion for The Temptations goes back to its origins in 1955 as a member of the Detroit doo-wop group The Distants, which included long time Temptation, Otis Williams, as well as Richard’s cousin, the late Melvin Franklin who was The Temptations legendary bass singer until his untimely death in 1995.
Richard left The Distants in 1959 to form The Monitors as other members of the Distants eventually went on to record for the newly formed Motown record label as The Temptations.
But Richard always kept a hand in the band. Motown president Berry Gordy hired him in 1963 as a quality control producer at the label, asking him to listen to new recordings and occasionally lend his tenor voice to sweeten a vocal track.
By 1969 The Temptations’ silky harmonies had made them the top R&B vocal group in the world with a string of pop chart toppers such as "My Girl", "I’m Losing You", and "Get Ready". But by then the wheels in the group were beginning to work loose and the group’s line-up began to change with David Ruffin and Paul Williams quitting making room for Richard Street and Dennis Edwards to move into the lead vocal roles.
Street working together with Edwards, signaled a notable shift in the direction of the group, and over the next few years The Temptations started tackling topical subjects such as the Vietnam War and urban poverty and produced "Take a Look Around", "Ball Of Confusion" and the landmark "Papa Was A Rolling Stone", which earned the group a Grammy Award.
With many hundreds of shows with The Temptations over the years, Richard has visited dozens of counties worldwide, and along with other members past and present was in the group when they were inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.
Today Richard Street presents his own show, which includes the legendary music of The Temptations along with other classic hit songs that document the golden years of the Motown sound. On the night you’ll be sure to hear the classic Motown hits such as "The Way You Do The Things You Do", "Don’t Look Back" "Just My Imagination" and many more.
This is a show which appeals to all age-groups whether for nostalgic reasons or a whole new exciting experience of this sensational motown music.
So come out and see the magic of Richard Street’s Legendary Temptations Show live and don’t miss this opportunity to experience the music of ‘The Temptations’ from the man behind the music when they come to Australia this February!
