As is customary Dr. Temptation has a lot to say about the Temptations,
every comment made by the Doctor has an asterisk, my responses are below
*The Temptations are the Greatest Group PERIOD. THAT'S THE REAL ANSWER TO
ALL
THIS.
Yes Doc I think they are great too, in fact at one time they were the
greatest. I dont think they are the greatest now.
*The Tempts had the voices, the moves, the style and CLASS. The Chilites,
Dramatics, Ojays, Dells, Stylistics, fell in the shadow of the
Temptations. The
Temptations set the standard.
I tend to disagree with this statement, the Temptations were at one time
the most popular group in the world, but the Dells, Ojays and the others
you've mentioned are not in anyones shadow. In fact I have been to live
shows where the Tempts got their behinds kicked by some of the very
groups you mentioned, including one group you didn't and they were the
Whispers.
*THE GROUPS THAT LAID THE FOUNDATION FOR THE TEMPTATIONS WERE THE
MOONGLOWS, FLAMINGOS, PLATTERS-GOSPEL GROUPS LIKE HARMINIZING FOUR...
Sure someone had to do it, maybe they set the standard ? and you left out
the Drifters.......lol
*WITH ALL THE REPLACEMENTS THIS GROUP HAS STILL SURVIVED.
The Temptations who stepped in and wore the Shoes of David, made a name
for
themselves namely Dennis Edwards and Ollie Ali Woodson...THESE WERE TWO
SINGING
ASS BROTHERS.
Yes they were and they are some of my favorite vocalists....they were
replaced too !!:-)
*NO ONE....AND I MEAN ONE REPLACED PAUL OR EDDIE KENDRICKS.....THEY WERE
THE
HEART OF THE TEMPTATIONS. THOSE WERE TWO GREAT VOICES, UNIQUE AND
DISTINCT.
Uh excuse me Doctor but they were replaced and quite adequately by
Richard Street,Damon Harris and Ron Tyson. I've commented on Paul in my
other post.
*FINALLY THE DIAMOND IN THE TEMPTATIONS TODAY IS NOT GC.CAMERON OR TERRY
WEEKS, THEY ARE GOOD NOT GREAT.....THE VOICE IS JOE HERNDON. THE MAN CAN
SING.....(read my lips) PASS THE MIKE TO JOE HERNDON.
First the guys are great, then they're not....make up your mind ! Plus
Otis probably doesn't agree with you either, I don't know of one group
whose lead singer also doubles as a Bass singer. hmmm except for Ron
Tyson maybe
? Blue Lovett probably comes as close as anyone......
*DENNIS EDWARDS AND THE TEMPTATIONS REVIEW ARE THE BEST OF THE
TEMPTATIONS
GROUP RIGHT NOW. IFEEL THEY ARE THE CLOSEST TO THE CLASSIC GROUP.

No they are closest to the Psychedelic Tempts or didn't you read my post,
as far as I know Dennis' claim to fame came during the Cloud Nine/Runaway
Child era. But of course this assesment may be debatable to you as well.
*OTIS' GROUP - GOOD SHOW ALWAYS, BUT SOMTHIN IS MISSIN.
I wonder if its the Temptations that are no longer with us ? I'm sure
that you could enlighten us, please speak on it!!!!
