The Temptations' 'Legacy' continues by Brittany Hodge IDS News
Rating B+ Legacy The Temptations Motown
It's only fitting that the Temptations have an album called Legacy, since that's what the group has left for the music world. Known for hits such as "My Girl" and "Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)," two sentimentally sweet narrations, the Temptations have returned with a more soulful beat. The baritone ad-libs filling the songs give a sensual feel, setting them up for that extra spark of romance.
"Still Tempting" opens the album, giving a smooth history lesson on what the group has had to face and overcome to become who they are. The beginning has funky, groovy tracks, which get you moving right along with them. But like most pop artists' works, the album is heavy with classic love themes.
Seductive beats and the use of the word "love" tend to set the mood. "You Are Necessary in My Life (The Wedding Song)" starts with barbershop-style singing, which lends the tune a genuinely great love-dovey vibe, as opposed to what is passed off as a love song these days. The rest of the record is filled out with more soulful melodies.
While predictable, with the right lighting and the songs off this album playing softly in the background, you may have successfully set the stage for a romantic evening. As cliché as it sounds, the Temptations are still tempting after so many years.

The harmony in "You Are Necessary In My Life" isn't Barbershop in the least. It's a very good acapella intro. Who's writing these reviews? LOL!! Thanks for posting it though, Tempfan. It's still good to see a good review... Ed
