Tempfan. Think we missed the show of the year last night, or I should say TWO shows. Thanks to my wonderful buddy, I did get to hear part of the show via cell phone. When she recovers from the show, and lack of sleep, I’m sure she’ll be here to post all the great details.
The promoter of this show is bringing them back in November, and promised to start advertising the show early. So hopefully, after all these years. I’ll get the chance to meet you. ;D

Hi Tempfan ..."the Friend" checking in here Well you guys missed it...anybody who is within flying distance of the SF Bay area and didn't make this show missed a GREAT time!! And I pretty much think that was everyone the known world...me and my table-mates seemed to be almost the only ones there that weren't in some way connected to the two-day 'event' via hair-care products or breast cancer awareness and early detection. The bad news is that this was not well-attended, mostly due to nobody really knowing about it...apparently it was not advertised well in the Oakland/Bay Area. The good news was...better for us (the audience). . Yes we got two full shows, with some variations in the songs. It was billed as "Temptations Tribute", so it was Temptations songs except 1) Walk away from Love in the first show and 2) A House is Not a Home in the second show. We were treated to a verse of "Hoops of Fire" a capella in the first show. Well, I'm exhausted. We thought we would get one show . At the end of the first show, Ali said "We'll be back in a few minutes for another song". so we figured maybe a "Losing You" or reprise of one song. When they came back, the started all over again with TWYDTTYD and ATPTB, then went into variations. Well, my table mates and I were ecstatic, and when it was over we KNEW we'd gotten more than our $$ worth. So as we're leaving, the promotor or whoever put this on said on the microphone "15 minutes...California Room...Ali Woodson". So we looked at each other and said "We there!" and off we went to find said California Room, and a nice meet and greet. Ali was his cordial sweet self to everyone, as were his group mates. I'm sorry, I didn't write down names of the fellows, but they were all very good. On the younger side of the Temptations or Review members....don't quote me but 30's I'd guess on the age-group. Tall and thin and handsome, just like Temptations , and sounding good. The show was mostly Ali on lead, but he did give some songs to his first tenor who performed admirably on TWYDTTYD and Just My Imagination and Get Ready, and Papa. Lorenzo and Willard, the two gentlemen who put this whole event together (including a hair show on Sunday nite) said they plan to do it again in the fall, perhaps November...so everybody is getting advance warning to not plan ANYTHING, including T'giving or birth or death, for the month of November so you can BE there next time, show ((((((Ali)))))) some love! I'm not going to "review" Ali...the man is an amazing singer AND entertainer, he had us all laughing between songs, and going crazy with his interpretations of the great music... if you don't already get it, me saying so won't help you get it. All I can say is ... incredible!!

Hi DSF & Kalisa Wow sounds like the concert was a blast! Glad to hear you had a great time Kalisa! Wish DSF and I would have been able to make it! Hopefully next time they will put out the word so they get a better crowd. Maybe we'll get lucky and Ali will consider putting out a live Cd of his group so we can all hear what you saw! By the way DSF next time ya talk to the Sea Man tell him we need a new 2 Cd Live Review Album combining a couple of their concerts so we can have all the new songs the groups added to their shows in additon to new versions of all the classics on San Pablo! I know wisful thinking, but one can hope! Thanks for the review Kalisa!
