NEWS - Brian McKnight, India.Arie, Stevie Wonder On Motown Holiday DVD

(9/6/03, 10 a.m. ET) -- Brian McKnight, India.Arie, Stevie Wonder, Take 6, The Temptations, and Thelma Houston are some of the artists featured on the upcoming DVD/VHS release A Motown Christmas, a collection of performances of holiday tunes by the label's top artists. A Motown Christmas will premiere as a one-hour television special on December 8 on the USA Network, featuring host D.L. Hughley.
The DVD version--featuring bonus footage and other extras--comes out December 10. In addition, Motown Records will re-issue some holiday CDs from its catalog.
The special includes a performance of "Joy To The World" by Wonder, McKnight and Take 6; the Temptations performing "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer"; Wonder singing "The Christmas Song"; India.Arie performing "The First Noel"; and Houston singing "Please Come Home For Christmas," among other highlights.
The DVD also features other performances, including McKnight's "Christmas Time Is Here"; Take 6 and McKnight's "The Little Drummer Boy"; the Temptations' "Silent Night"; and India.Arie's "Christmas Time Is Here."
Among the holiday projects being re-released by Motown on December 10 are the 1999 expanded reissue of 1973's A Motown Christmas featuring the Jackson 5, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye; the 1999 expanded reissue of 1965's Merry Christmas from Diana Ross & The Supremes;1999's Our Very Best Christmas by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, a project that combines tracks from 1963's Christmas With The Miracles and 1970's The Season For Miracles; and 2001's The Best Of The Temptations Christmas, which features tracks from 1970's Christmas Card and 1980's Give Love At Christmas with one previously unreleased track.
