MERIDIAN, Miss. - Meridian Mayor John Robert Smith said this week the city supports efforts for a tribute to the late David Ruffin, a member of The Temptations.
Ruffin, a Meridian native, was one of the original Temptations, and sang lead vocals on such hits as "My Girl" and "Ain't Too Proud To Beg."
"We're not trying to build a David Ruffin Fund," said his brother, Quincy Ruffin. "We're trying to build a foundation to help people in need of educational help, especially as far as drugs are concerned."
Quincy Ruffin said plans also include locating a park or outdoor area in downtown Meridian in honor of the singer.
Smith said the holdup is securing a location and written proposals for a statue and museum. He said once this is done organizers can solicit federal funds for the project.
Davis Eli Ruffin was born Jan. 18, 1941, in Meridian, Miss. Known professionally as David Ruffin, he was an original member of the Temptations.
In 1989, Ruffin was reunited with the whole band when the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
Ruffin died June 1, 1991, in Philadelphia at the age of 50 of a drug overdose.

I didn't know Mr Ruffin had another brother apart from Jimmy. Does anybody know how old Quincey is?

Interesting how Meridian made the news today in a Tragic way with the shooting spree at Lockheed Martin

According to Quincy, he was 5 years old in 1934 when his mother married Mr. Ruffin.
From pictures I have, I don't see a resemblance between Quincy and David, but Quincy was quite heavy-set so maybe that's why.

So I'm guessing David and Quincy would've looked like the number 10 standing next to each other. ;D

LOL, IRLM!! You might say that. In fact...you DID say that I don't have a clear enough picture of a younger Quincy to put up, but even the earliest shots I have of him show him to be a bit on the bulky side. Here's one from 1984...maybe someone else can see a resemblance:
