Rockin' on the Riverfront — The Temptations Perform — Friday Night Concert
On Friday night, when the Corvette 50th Parade ends, don't go too far! After the line of great Corvettes and marching Elvis' pass, Rockin' on the Riverfront will continue to rev up the District. The Temptations will perform on the famous floating stage located at Riverfront Park on the corner of 1st and Broadway.
Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame members The Temptations, with original member Ali Woodson and his Emporers of Soul, performs the hits "My Girl", "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" and "Beauty's Only Skin Deep."
For more than forty years, The Temptations have prospered propelling the popular Motown sound into smash hits. An original component of the Motown Machine, The Temps began recording in the 60's and became a house-hold name with the hit "The Way You Do the Things You Do." Many more hits followed like "My Girl", "Ain't Too Proud to Beg", "Beauty's Only Skin Deep" and "Get Ready."
In addition to their lyrical and poetic sound, The Temps became known for their "flair, flash and class," and The Temptation Walk became a signature of American style. From their tangerine tuxedoes to their smooth pop sounds, The Temptations were and are still the quintessential Motown group.
Make sure to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the grass seating which is first come, first served. The music begins at 6:00 pm and lasts until 10:00 p.m. Rockin' on the Riverfront is open to the general public, and will occur rain or shine.
